Projects Frankenstein Body-What is it ????

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 2tall2beahotrodder, Aug 24, 2009.

  1. About 2 years ago, I bought a pair of doors and cowl from ebay in hopes for a HAGR project. Long story short I decided to go another route and finally after years Im getting to peice this Frankenstein body together.

I was told this is a late 20s Nash cowl, By the previous owner. He pulled it out of an old junkyard up in northern Maine. I already looked and found some similaries, but the main cowl line doesnt match up to any of the possible matches...

    Heres what I started with....
Side windows are 4 door Model a, and the rear window is out of a 37 international pickup..
Notice no gental sweep in the cowl body line, just flat straight...

How it sat, a month ago. Alot more progress since then.
Made the bottom door skins, rolled around the back tail section with a gental sweep. Inner Body supports are finished, everything is made out of 1x1 tubing,( strong and heavy SOB!) firewall is flush, made a new vent assembly, peaked the body line from the doors back, welded the doors shut, etc... Glorified Go Cart....

Cool metal work.... do you already made or buy frame rails??

  13. Midget? I heard you call my name...
Make a dragster out of it... you got enough rat rods on the street, we dont need another one. Seriously... pipes down the side... make it a real dragster, flip top, or step in... it's too ugly for the streets, look perfect on the strip. Ugly is in...there! You can put your new sailor motif on it...

Thanks for the inspiration on multiple levels. I've been gathering parts for a Frankenstein Coupe myself, although I at least know what years, makes and models mine come from. Sorry I can't help you identify that cowl. It's nice to see something come together from nothing.
And as another dude who's realistically too damned tall to be a hot rodder, I commend you and hear you about stepping in from the top. I've humored going the "easy" way and making a roadster out of mine ... then it would be a cinch to weld the doors shut and literally step into it. Alas, I figure if I build a roadster there's no way my wife would ever ride with me since she spontaneously combusts in direct sunlight. Vampire blood and all...

... on second thought, a roadster is a damn fine idea!

Midget is politicaly incorrect they are little people I think .:D That cab is bad ass mad skills keep us posted.

  16. Ok now lets count how many insults there were in that post.... Didnt our mommy say, if you dont have anything nice to say, dont say anything at all???

I may have to step on you...

  17. I made a frame years ago before I found a body to start with, but since Im going a different way with this project, Im gonna scratch build another 2x4 frame...

Gigantor, your name rules... I wish I picked it. Cut the roof... You live in Maine, Its not like the Sun is blazing like mexico. Tell the wife to pick up some of that Vampire Sunblock, PF 9000!!!

  18. At this point I don't think what it started out as means a whole lot.
What you have now is really looking good, I always admire people that can look past the rusty metal and see a gem hidden there, your vision and talent are outstanding.
I used to be so proud of myself when I could do this kind of stuff withs model cars,
    but you far surpast me.
What is the plan for it past this, pick up bed or shorty sedan, or bobber?

  19. Why yes the cowl is Canadian,it a 1931 Beaver Runabout, built in Moosefactory Ontario.Hard to find any parts for them.
