All antiBoyd stuff aside, that T his shop built in the new Rod and Custom looks pretty cool. The article said it will be on the show, so maybe that one will be a good one? I kinda wonder if it is a statement car to all the Boyd bashers that they can build traditional (even more "traditional" than the 32 on the show)?

Now, with the cars off of Rides that the Choppers and Hollywood Hot Rods built and the 32 and the T off of American Hot Rod I just wonder if even more people are going to jump on the traditional (and mis named Rat Rod) band wagon?

Troy built a killer car, and Foose is working on a very interesting 32 fighter pilot style...could the boom be getting ready to get bigger? When it the bust comming I wonder?

Too much thinking for me...ouch my head hurts. [IMG]

    Har****, what is totally 80's?

  4. I can see what Harp means when I look at the frame. I like the car but hate the re-arched wheel wells. they took the good turtle deck lines of the T turtledeck and made it look like a 29 Dodge.......ewwwwwwwwwwwww

Its not 80s ........ its 2000s .... built new to look old. I think its cool.......... they're just not used to working with anything really vintage (except for a PERFECT body)

the only thing I cant understand is ...on the Rad Rides 32 they made $10000 Billet wheels wittled to mimic a $500 set of wheels???????????why?..... because they could? because the owner has deep pockets? to me its like choosing a 'gl*** body when steel IS avail. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Boyds car is cool ...... Rad Rides 32 is cool ........

    You heard wrong, Brick.

Bluebear is a good guy and really is pretty talented. Don't believe everything you see on TV. [IMG]

Someone posted a picture of it at the nats in Louisville but that was a while back. I don't care for the quarter windows or the raised wheelwells in back but it's not too bad. I liked the A pickup that was in the article in R&C better, but they didn't show much of it. For those that haven't seen it it's in the latest Rod and Custom.

Maybe Boyd fired Bluebear and hired Rizzo [IMG]

Brian, I'm not saying he's not talented, I will say from the show he seems obnoxious.

Him getting fired/quitting was not on the show yet. I heard from somebody in that area. Also Charlie the painter isn't working there anymore, he's painting Ken Reister's car for Detroit for Chip.

Charlie is working for Chip Foose from what I hear...they should be a good match. Now, if only Chip was off Overhauling and doing American Hot Rod and Boyd was on Overhauling we might have more interesting stuff.

I don't think I'd call him obnoxious...he does have his own distinct personality though.

Charlie is also a good guy...and I won't hesitate to say that he's one of the best painters I've met, and a really hard worker. I guess Boyd finally pushed him to his limit...when I was out there this summer you could kind of see the writing on the wall.

You going to make it down to Texas for the Roundup this year, Brick?

  14. Why don't they stick to their stuff? Or is it a trend hopping-make money deal?

According the article in Rod & Custom it was a challenge from some of the younger guys in the shop to see who could the build the best trad style rod. The younger guys built an AV8 pickup, and both were driven to the NSRA nats in Louisville and a People's Choice vote taken. We get to wait on the Disco channel to find out the winner unless someone who was at the nats spills the beans hint hint [IMG]

I guess this is destined to further drive up the price of traditional hot rod parts. Maybe the price of primer too [IMG]

I think my question is when the hell did Boyd really start giving a **** a bout "traditional" looking cars? He's been making the same **** for 20 years.

Not surprised Charlie left. I did notice on the show that Boyd tread a little lightly around the man, didn't gripe and ***** at him like he'd do the rest of em. Blueballs would get physically harmed around here, skills or not. That "personality" and at***ude of his would last about 3 seconds before he got handed a "Missouri Aysse Whuppin."

I really like Charlie. He took the time to show us all around even though he was ***-deep in work. Good luck to him where ever he goes. Speaking of BlueBird did you all notice the t-bird at the Nats coverage in there. That's Pic***o's design, no?! No credit, Oh well, happens all the time....

All the build shows play heavier on the drama **** than the car build, all with the deadlines and ****. Hell if I was paying big 6 figures for a rod do you think I would put the builder under the gun to do a hurry up job?
I don't think you can totally judge Bluebear or any other personality by what the producer has chose to portray them as. Boyd might be an ***hole but I don't think he would hire someone that is the bumbleing idiot they play Bluebear out to be.
Just like American Chopper, on Leno Jr. said they don't fight anywhere near as much as it gets played up on the show.

I was just informed, by a very reliable source, that the T-bird shown in the coverage was actually started BEFORE the magnificent Dan P.'s illo came out. From now on I will shut my hole, not that anyone's listening anyway...

Bluebear was at the Day of the Drags with Jimmy White. I kept thinking that it looked like him but he seemed really quiet so I ***ummed it could'nt be.

I was sitting with B*** and was right next to the guy and I don'nt think I ever even heard him say a word. He just laughed every once in a while.

It was'n till after the drags that I asked B*** if that was him and found out it was.

You just can't beleive everthing these people are putting on these shows. I think alot of it is staged for the drama.

Its just the Hotrod version of Days Of Our Lives and were tuning in to see what happens next.

  28. Yeah I saw him at the drags too. Me and ***** we're trying to figure out if it was him or not.

Was that T the maroon one parked near the stands? Or?
