Don't know if any of you guys are into this, but I build custom Aurora Tjet motors & ch***is. I actually have a drag strip with a timing system. Scale 1/64th 1/4 mile is 20' 7.5". Here's a link to a 55 Chev that I built a while back: http://www.jnphoto.com/trs/55chev.html I actually have broken the 80mph barrier since then ( actual mph, not scale ). I gotta tell ya, there is some fierce compe***ion!! It is very popular.
I have a bunch of HO stuff that I keep saying I will get out and just never get around to it, That 55 is very nice!
i was into commercial 1:24 scale slot car racing and dabbled in some drag racing built this a while ago
my cheater Cheetah with a AFX green motor would give you a run..lol I have a 4 lane HO setup powered by a 30amp "Powersource" transformer that really gets those things going. have run a few Ohio series HOPRA events but mainly play around in the backroom winter time. summer is for racing the real ones. cool car!
Thanks guys!! I'm trying to dig up some old photos from past events, but I can't seem to find them. The Wife may have deleted them to make space! Damn, I think I'm gonna hafta dust off the strip and fire up the timing system. I think I'm gonna wind some motors too. It may take 'til the winter, the ba*****t is a mess!!
I have a ton of HO stuff but raced 1/24 drags for years in the northwest..my favorite hardbody drag car was a DEORA painted red with a hard cover over the bed and little red wagon decals.......and some motor work, never seen HO drags but sounds fun hell I even have some HO dragster bodies
Here are some of my drag cars, they are all cl*** winners. I included a pic of one of my Hot Rod slot cars.
I had a '69 Dodge R/T bodied 1/24th scale that I drag raced at Maple Hts Model Raceway in Maple Hts, Ohio back around '70. I won more often than loosing. It beat alot of guys who were winding their own motors. Me being HAMB-like (cheap use what you can) would run 6 volt motors on the 12 volt track. I would buy a whole bag of them from Radio Shack or Olsen Electronics for $2. I could get 10-12 runs out of one before they would burn up. The cool thing is when they burned up they would smoke like a John Force burnout. The best is when they would burnup at about half track. Oh Yeah those would be the rounds I would loose.
I used to drag race 1/25th hard body cars a few years ago and was going to build a 1/64th track in mt garage, but never did. It's a blast!
