This motor was used in Lincoln Cars and Large Ford Trucks up until 1951. I believe that it does not share any components with the smaller Ford and Mercury Flatheads. Someone correct me if I am wrong. 1951 Motor Manual lists the following Specs. Bore: 3.500" Stroke: 4.375" Compression Ratio: 7.0:1 Hp: 152 @ 3600 RPM Torque: 265 @ 2000 RPM There are rebuild kits out there, but very little after market or speed parts.
you are very correct, ive checked all that out but i dont want to run with a flattie, i just to flip the motor, cant afford to rebuild it.
I should have read your post more carefully, Sorry for the extra stuff. I have no idea what those heads or the motor would be worth, but a set has got to be rare. The only manufacturers of aftermarket heads for those motors that I am aware of was Edmunds and Edelbrock. What are you thinking of running in the 337's place?
The heads are worth somwhere around a grand-to the guy who needs them. Edelbrocks seem to be rarer then Edmunds. I believe they were the better of the two as well-quality wise. I've got about $1200 in my Edmunds heads AND manifold and that's been several years ago. If you weren't so far away (read: freight $) and the fact that I've got SEVERAL $ invested in rebuilding my engine (which, of course I'm goin to bolt on my precsious Edmunds parts) I'd be a candidate for your flip job. There have been many posts here on the H.A.M.B. about these engines and cars using them.
