I don't know if this one has been mentioned yet or not. Lots of cool stuff going to be sold at this one. I need to go buy a lottery ticket. http://www.rgilliganauctions.com/10_3_&_10_4_antique_autos_&_parts_-_license_plate_collections.htm
Son of a******! That will be a blast! Way too damn far for me to go. Prabably better off anyway - I'd probably buy so much***** I'd be swimming in it.
A fine collection, the man had an eye for good metal. I always feel nostalgic and sad to see a man's collection being auctioned off, but life is what it is. Some really cool stuf there. RIP
That's the truth. I always wondered what happened to all those 'sample' plates. YES! That REO would be a bad mofo !
Good thing I live half way around the world or I would spend every damned penny I have. That Model A delivery truck is so bad azz.
Since it is an estate sale, possible the family does not know any better?? The auctioneer will not care, there is so much stuff he will make a good buck no matter how many people show up. The auctioneer might not know about hershey either. If he knew cars he would not call the A coupe a "1931 ford coupe tudor" Love to have either the Reo panel or the A delivery.
Rich, That's true, but it's the week before Hershey- probably see a good bit of that auction wind up on the fields and in the car corral.
thats some great stuff right there. I'd put off acoupla bills and make money like a tweaker on some of that stuff. In other words all of it would be in MY estate sale. And yea, that REO would be the hot trick. specilly wif you could match the rest to that front rim. HOOOOBOY.
i wonder what will happen to the stuff they can't sell? is it still destined for the crusher and trash bins?
It's an auction...everything will sell even if it's only $1.00. If something isn't worth a buck, it might as well go to the scraper.
This would be at the top of my wish list Lots of cool stuff, but there is at least one WTF car there....a marines issue 4 door AMC? So who is going to buy this and drive it to the NSRA Nats next year?
He must have gone to heaven for leaving such a huge collection for the rest of us to purchase and enjoy.
Another example of how we are not really owners, but just caretakers of this stuff... It is sad to see a mans collection broken up, but it will be wonderful to see other people get a shot at being a caretaker of these goodies. RIP to whomever passed on.
Thats one hell of a stash,I would grab up all the signs and the tag toppers. Would be nice to have those coupe and roadsters too.
Anyone notice the four(4) 1957 Chevrolet "hardtop sedans"? ...Curious about those... Also noticed "No Absentee Bids";I've scored gas/oil goodies in the past via that method. Sorry,no road trip in my future.
Well stated;we are but mere caretakers of our "stuff". Our only hope is that we've taught SOME of the succeeding generations the appreciation required to be proper caretakers when they acquire our memorabilia. RIP to the former "caretaker" as well, and condolences to his family.
