½ cent a pound, unless you find someone in need If the trans happens to be an overdrive then you have a $100 item. .
Like 73RR said, there's not much demand for the motor. BUT if the trans is an overdrive, that's a whole other story. A dealer at Carlisle MOPAR fest last summer had one that was missing a few parts - price was $1200. I know someone else who was happy to get a complete one for $800.
Like you said 41d20 love the flatty but you try to get on the big road people just dont care any more they almost run over ya.
The 'B' engine is an excellent choice! Plenty of power in stock trim and alot more available with ready available parts. .
over drive is worth 500 or mor some times depends on if its a 230 or 218 and if it has full flow oil filter or not
I just gave away two Ford flathead sixes, I didn't need. Since I have the engine I need for my 49 Coupe.
its a 230 still has oil bath air breather , and a full flow filter ,its all stock execpt it was converted to 12 volt with alternater.
All 46-48 p-15s came with a 218, 230 was only available in dodges so you may have a transplant....just because you have a oil filter does not automaticaly make it a full flow, more than likely you have the more common byp*** filter with 2 steel lines connected to the block. Full flow filter looks more like it has a funnel attached to the bottam of it. 251 flatties and 265 industrial flatties are more likely to be sportin' a full flow. You can test to see if you have an overdrive or 3spd fluid drive by putting your car in high gear and then starting it without depressing the clutch, if you lurch 3spd manual...if you can take off without stalling it is a semi-automatic or a regular fluid drive. If you do have a 230 it was yanked out of a dodge or someone stroked a 218 with a 230 crank and rods. That is the only differance between the 2 even the piston size is the same.
