To get these props from you Rik means a lot to me...

...and this is just the primer.

The plan is to have it street legal and painted in the next couple months. So you can expect a visit to your place and a ride to the latest in spring 2010.

An now I stop hijacking this thread - excuses.

Well...there are quite a high number of fanciers of Mrs Lopez's behind out there;)

But I agree, if you chop too much you screw up the line of the car.

To me the proportions are spot on stock. It already looks chopped compared to a 40 Ferd. Especially the business coupe with the flowing roof line.

thinkfink, first off i wanna say that yours is by far the best looking '41 Plymouth EVER. I really like the looks of your chop, how much of a chop is it? I've also been trying to figure out what else has been done to it... the running boards are obviously not stock and the rear fenders are longer. The fenders (front and rear) look a lot wider too but maybe that's just a product of the chop? The most confusing thing to me is that the fenders look higher up on the car although it doesn't look sectioned.

if you don't want to share the secrets to a look like that I don't blame you but... it's killing me to know!

Thanks for the kind words zombiesarebad....
I'll try to get it all together...
The chop is 4 inches, with the rear window moved slightly forward, the pix should give you some idea.
As the body sits channeled on on a zed 1983 caprice he**** frame some changes came "naturally".
The fenders and the front got stretched and widened (2 inches) to match the wider caprice front and even out the one inch wheelbase difference (1941 Plymouth 117”, Caprice 118”). Plus a stripe under grill got added.
The rear fenders also got lengthened to give the car better proportions and make it more flow. So in the end the whole *** of the car is rebuilt to match the fenders and the lowered trunk lid.
And the speedlines on the fenders got removed - that also changes the appearance of the fenders quite a lot.
The running boards are completely made from scratch and integrated in the body.

thanks for the details. I've been waiting to see a really good chop so I know how much to chop mine, and 4" seems to be the magic number. My fenders will also have to be widened (to accept the big tires in the back and a camaro sub in the front). I may try some other kustom work on it but I'll be happy if mine comes out looking anywhere near as good as yours does. Thanks again for your help.

I never trust second hand info until it gets confirmed by someone in the know.....
I know what you mean, im in italy you see, you have to take compromise jobs to keep the boat floating.....
Props for the Plymouth bro, its gonna be, actually it already is a killer kustom, one of the finest in europe.
Can you start a thread on it so we stop high jacking this one??? i'd subscribe to it.

    HI Zombiesarebad,

cleaned my c-drive and found two more shots of the orange 41 i posted earlier that I personally REALLY like. The rear roofline on that one really flows more than on mine and defintely an option to think about when you chop.
The car is on the h.a.m.b. but I do not know the name of the owner, but may be he's reading and can send more. Would be interesting to see it from the front.

    @bonez & 2nd chance premier
thanks for the kind words but no own thread, sorry. As the work is not done by me (still got two left hands when it comes to metal) I don't own the braggin' rights. That's Charles thing to do if he wants. I can answer, help with all I know and promote his skills but that's it. Anyhting else would feel phony to me. Hope you can understand.

  21. Thinkfink, it's hard to come up with a word that's describes how beautiful you car is.

If I had your car Zombiesarebad, I'd have my answer right there. That's the br*** ring.

Chop that baby. Just dont take out too much. IMHO fat fendered cars that have been chopped too far look like they have been sat on by the Jolly Green Giant.
Also, if you can leave the back window stock size. Again my opinion, but that looks better:)

Well, I think when it comes to customs, we should each try to create something totally original, and unique, but in this case I'd say screw that! If you have any sense at all, you'd study every inch of thinkfink's car, then clone that *****!!
    sorry thinkfink:D

I agree, dont chop it. Get it running, slam it and drive it. I has great lines to begin with, why change it. There some awesome pics out there without them chopped up.

No need to be sorry roddinron.
Whatever zombiesarebad does...it will always be his car and not a clone.
And I am curious as hell to see it evolving. As the pure fact that he's is here, sticking his neck out, asking the right questions and thinks first before he cuts, makes me believe it will be an AWESOME car.
So i am looking forward a LOT to the updates:)

If you decided to chop, please post some pics of the chop sequence. There are probably a number of us out there with 40 - 41 mopar coupes and have the same questions you do. I happen to be one of them. Hopefully, you can post some progress pics. Looking forward to seeing your build.
