I like it! Looks like you're on the right track. Some good advice in this thread too. As a dad with a son that's into hot rods too, the most important thing to me is that he's safe about it. I'll bet your dad's the same way about you!

Keep us posted on your progress!

Good lookin' truck! and yeah, I agree on the proportions thing, I've seen alot of these trucks that would look good if they could've just got the wheelbase right. I moved my frontend forward about 13" last weekend.

I'm not exactly sure what I'm gonna do with those bottom 2 mounting holes. It has 4 bolts in it so I'm not worried about it not being strong enough. Also I'm not done welding the frame, it's only tacked until I disassemble the truck and finish up the frame.

Thanks for the kind words! maybe once I get this thing going I'll see you at some shows around here.

thanks, I'll look into strengthening the frame in that area. Seems to be a concern to a few of you and I want my truck to be safe. Right now my door does hit on the header a little. My dad and me made those headers and I still have to cut it to the length I want.

hahah yeah, my dad is worried about my safety. He wouldn't let me do anything that would be unsafe on this truck.

    thanks everyone!

    Thanks everyone!

Wish my dad was here helping me on mine too...

Nice truck project. Good to see you working with your Dad. Wish I had had something with my Dad. He's been gone now quite a few years, but I still think about what we didn't have! Keep us posted. Perley

Great Progress. Looking good...... but as stated earlier, I'd beef it up a little around the Notch. It just looks a little thin to me around there.

Jeez, it's been a long time since I posted on this.. Sadly, it's been just about as long since I've worked on the truck. I got sidetracked on a '69 Roadrunner that my wife picked up last year. In the meantime I've sorta lost interest in the truck. I'm sure if I started working on it again I'd rekindle my love for it. But I hate to see it sit around not getting worked on and I'll hopefully be purchasing my first house soon so I've been toying around the idea of selling it or trading it for something that needs less work to be on the road.
I'm not going to post an ad in the classifieds quite yet because I'm not 100% sure that I do want to sell it and I don't have a definite price I'd be asking for it. If anyones interested just make me an offer. I'll consider any serious offer.
What I would LOVE to pick up for a replacement for the truck is a 1955 Buick Hardtop. So if anyone's got one that they'd be interested in trading for this contact me!
Here's the most recent picture I have of it.

I also have a set of 5 16" Ford wire spoke wheels and 2 Buick finned aluminum brake drums that could go with the truck if the offer was right..
Basically what the truck needs at this point is for the steering to be finished. It just needs a steering box and a little fabrication. It needs shock mounts to be built, then tear it down, finish up the welding on it, blast it, body work and paint, then the obvious of finishing up all the things like lights, interior, glass, mechanical and electrical work.
I'd really hate to see this truck go, but for the right price (or a decent enough '55 Buick) I could get rid of it.
