A bunch of us(5) have been looking for those "chinese" Moped kits on e-bay and elsewhere & i'm wondering if anyone on here sells them?( i'd rather give the money to a HAMB'r). If not anyone know of a line to get them? someones gotta be importing them! Thanks jimV
My next door neighbor bought one a few years ago......I'm thinking he told me it was a POS.........I don't think he even got it to run.......real poor quality.
There is a guy running around here with one of the kits from this company. He loves it at 34 mpg.Its a 49 cc motor and it goes pretty good. http://www.staton-inc.com/
I just found this one.Has some real cool bikes. http://www.spookytoothcycles.com/content/view/165/153/
I built this one a couple of years back. It's one of those kits from down town Beijing but I got it to run pretty good. I added the triple tree forks, cut down the seat post, and changed the cranks to shorter ones. It was pretty squirrely at 30+ mph with those apes too... definitely not for a kid to ride! With the chinese bike and the chinese engine.. you definitely had to run through a "pre-flight inspection" to make sure everything was tight and safe.
they are cheap, got mine on ebay look up motor for bikes, it makes my cruizer go way faster then it was made to go,,xlnt fuel consumption if you do get one the first thing to go is the exaust gasket, replace it with a metal one from a heat riser on a 1600 vw..........if you buy it knowing it a throw away they are fun.............oh yea they have 80 cc ones also
You always get what you pay for. I know, I've had two of these things. The clutches aren't worth a ****. The way the sprocket attaches to the rear wheel is retarded to say the least. It's worth paying more for something that will last... Plus whizzers were made in the United States, and they'll only go up in value. You can find an old whizzer motor by itself for only a couple hundred bucks. if you're thrifty, you can be driving one for under 500 bucks. Plus, they dont sound like a pissed off chainsaw when you drive them....
That looks like something a hamber could rig up pretty easy. Weed-whacker motor and a couple hours. The part I never thought I could do easily was the drive to the sprocket, but these guys are going to the tire! ****, I think I have a chainsaw motor laying around!
My buddys run a little shop building these things. One works at a machine shop, and the other used to work at the stanford campus bicycle shop. They make some pretty cool ones using their vast knowlege of different genre bicycle components, as well as their love of anything old (downhill girder frontends, bmx components, custom clipons combined with old bates seats and custom machined br*** doo dads), they also do whizzers, but most customers just want a cheap chinese 49ccer punched out a bit, with custom expansion chambers, intakes, gastanks, etc. i will try and get some pics to post. i think you can get those engines 70cc a well.
this is so funny you posted this i just seen a guy here in my area with one of those motors on a mountain bike he was switchin gears and the whole nine he was cruising down the highway too i was like wtf ..i want to build one too..when you guys get more info someone post a build of one ...
I bought my kit from these guys. if you go into knowing that it was made in china it's not that bad at all. mine is a blast.
We have 6 bikes in our group at the moment. For the money they seem to be great fun! Wifes bike My brothers cruiser Super Dave's Punks 20" Bills at Symco Shakedown drags
