I GOTTA 425 CADDY/TURBO 400 FROM A 78 HE****. THIS ENGINE LOOKS LIKE IT'S BRAND NEW ON THE INSIDE. SO FAR I'VE GOT AN EDELBROCK PER. INTAKE AND I'M GOING TO RUN AN EDEL. 750 CARB. IT'S GOING IN A 53 STUDEBAKER CHAMPION. HOW DOES THE 425 PERFORM COMPARED TO THE 472 AND 500?

As far as how does it compare to the 472 and 500 it obviously won't be as strong. It is about 40 or so pounds lighter. If torque is your goal add a 252 cam to the package and it will make plenty starting just above idle. Keep rear gearing 3.42 or less to keep the revs down. I have one in my 52 Chevy.

I'm running an Erson cam - can't remember the specs but it is fairly conservative. Do check out the Cadillac forum posted above. Several vendors of Cad parts are regular posters. It is hard to beat the torque per dollar in a mildly built engine.
