I've had this issue for years, just looked at it not too long ago, but I've never stopped to think the car might still be out there.

Satan's Chariot I hope you find your Dad's car and if so here's one vote for putting it back to the Rodding and Restyling configuration!

THAT is something else! I love it. My car (29 Coupster) was originally built by a guy here in Spring down the street from the old high school. It has a similar tuck in the rear and when he painted it in the early 70's it sported a metallic blue panel paint job VERY similar in layout to your dads car. He was also running side exhaust like that but they ran almost the length of the car.

I need to get over to his house and scan his pictures from the build because I'm sure either your dad or you know him or knew of him.

Spring was small back town then.

  11. So I'm out in the garage, working on this little Ironhead chopper I got a while back, and the phone rings. It's Wayne Kleb, all the way across town in Spring. What are the odds?!?!? (Actually, his son gave him my number). Anyhoo, we talk for a half hour; he's 70 years old and remembers pretty much everything from '58-'61 when the car was being built. He told me of finding the body next to the wall near the Huntsville prison, etc., great stories. Even has receipts from the chrome shop, $200 for the engine block(try that today). Super nice guy, still builds cars, and still hangs out at Nifty 50's in Spring. I think I will go check it out tomorrow night.

I have the rodding and restyling with it on the cover , but i knew i had one or 2 more mag's with this car in it ! I love channelled 26' & 27 t's . and chrome reversed wheels are just icing on the cake. O.k. I must say i prefer the cut down deuce grille shell and the bench seat. but the times were a changing and he was obviously trying to win shows so i can see why Wayne wanted to change things up from the norm, he then went with the wild grill shell and bucket seats. This car always caught my eye because one my favorite early 60's hot rods is the Buick powered gary Heliker 26 T ! enjoy these scans - thanks to joey !

The first time I saw this roadster I could not stop looking. I am now building a 26 27 T roadster with a 60's inspired theme. Thanks for the pics.

OK guys, overwhelmed by the neat pictures posted by Kyle, and the info posted by you guys I summarized the story on Kustomrama (as the car really deserves its story to be documented there), putting the photos together in the right order. and writing down as much of the info as I could find. Check it out here: http://www.kustomrama.com/index.php?title=Wayne_Kleb%27s_1927_Ford

I saw Satan's Chariot in one of the big circuit shows that came through Longview, TX. Must have been in '61 or '62. It was in town a day or two early and on display at the brand new Ford dealership in Longview. They fired it up (inside), and that was one of the coolest things I'd ever seen. The place was packed, and I though the big plate glass windows were gonna blow out. I remember later on Saturday night during the show, it was jacked up with the wheels off one side, angel hair and this huge mirror on the floor showing off the underside. They fired it up and it had a major coolant leak, so they had to shut if off. It was all red when I saw it. Long time ago, but memory says it might have been flake or at least a metallic red. Seems like just last year.:D
Thanks for bumping this thread up. I hadn't seen it before today.
