Wow, Those '41 pickups are one of my favorites. Do you ever have any '41 cars down under ? I have four (check my avatar).

Dave, I think NZ only got the 41 Ford commercials new for the army and businesses, there were no new cars, I dont know why we had so many 39 ford cars new, and no 40, 41 cars, we had all the models of Ford cars up until 40. There is one 41 two door sedan I know of here, which is imported.

Hi, the 39 coupe and the 41 pickup have been repainted, the 39 came out a deep maroon new, the fire wall and under the bonnet is still painted this colour, but everything else is original except new window rubber, running board rubbers, twin pipes, the interior dash is painted the green over the wood grain," buggar". We have the wheel spatts ( rear wheel covers) as well. We meet one of the old owners the other day, he was told his coupe was long gone, was totaled in an accident, until his search for another 39 recently, and he discovered through someone that there was a 39 coupe not far from his home, that might be his. He was so excited he had found his old car after a few phone calls that he wanted to buy it back, not in this life time, we have had it for too long now. He said it use to have a roof rack for his surfboards. He has just purchased a fordor 39 sedan. Our 39 coupe just sits in a barn, we use it around the farm.
The 41 pickup was army green new, which was like an olive green colour, then it was a bluey grey colour, then the green you now see.

Heres the 41 from the past, photos of when it was grey were taken in the 70s. After the truck left the army it was used on farms, it use to be used for delivering milk cans to the Dairy Factory, and for pulling horse floats for race horses around Woodville and the Manawatu regions, spent some time in Wanganui, then headed north to Napier and then to Rotorua where it has been ever since. Truck had been stored in sheds and barns while in Rotorua, but now sees more of the road.
When the ole man use to drive it in the 70s he was a bit of a loose unit in it, he use to hit empty 44 gallon drums in the 41 at road work sites, until one day he hit one and it was full of water, roadworkers must of got sick of picking up the drums, the ole man never did that again. then one night coming home from work out in the country, probably had a few beers the old man was chased by a cop car for speeding, the old man left the cop behind and got to home and told mum to turn all the lights off in the house, the cop knew who it was, he just parked the car outside the house for a few minutes and left. Then another night the old man was drunk and reversed hard into a big tree outside world famous Joe,s Diner in Rotovegas, he bent the chassis, lucky for him pop had a spare car chassis which was swapped over. The chassis must of been out of an old hotrod as it had been painted orange and then red. The pickup was painted green in the early 80s.
The black and white bumpers is something the bigger truck used to have, like old loggers, some had diamond patterns and different shapes. Alot of old cars in NZ in the 60s and 70s had sunvisors, the visor on the 41 is from a Mark1 Ford Zodiac.

  5. Great history; always makes for an additional bonus of the hobby. Future buyers will
usually appreciate it, as well, (if that day should ever come.....).

Some really tasty cars in this thread!

  7. Just a few from my ramblings around the country.
Excuse the odd Merc & Linc and maybe duplicates
of the same cars but different venues.

Here a few photo of Ajays Ford V8 Parts pickup when they had it years ago, I see the Hoffs nightrider car next to it, and a photo from a couple of years ago. I think the 41 now has red painted wheels with hubcaps.
