Does anyone know if the Ford Maverick rear ends came in 9" and if they do which models?

I've never seen or even heard of a 9" in an original Maverick.
Every early Mustang I ever saw with a base 289 or 302 used the normal 8" with five lug wheels. This was a move up from the six cylinder with an integral carrier axle housing and 4 lug wheels.
If Ford saw no reason to equip the base Mustang 302 with the 9", I see no reason why the Maverick 302 would need it either...and 302 was as big as it got for the Mav!

Not exactly the question you asked ... BUT

A little known fact is that the V8 Mavericks and V8 Comets of those years
shared that same 8 inch rear end with SOME ... of the 6 cylinder equipped models. IF ... the Maverick or Comet had the optional 250 cubic inch six cylinder ... they got the 5 lug V8 rear. :D

The most narrow ( from the Factory ) 9 inch Ford is the 57/58/59 Ford. They are 2 inches wider than the 5 lug 8 inch Maverick/Comet rear ( or 1 inch per side ). The 57/58/59 Ford 9 inch is a bolt in ... for the Maverick/Comet

I have a 8 inch out of a V-8 powered Mav. I think that's all they ever came with. Mines a 279 gear ratio and hopefully will be going under my A.

All '73-'77 Mavs with a V8 or big 6 had the 8" rear with five lug wheels, and they measure 56.5" wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface, drums on. Some '71-'72s with the 250 had a four lug 8" rear, but the five lug axles won't swap in as that rear had smaller axle bearings. The narrowest 8" rear that Ford made was the '63 Falcon/Comet V8, at 56" total, drums on.

    8" On all Mavericks and Comets. 9" on "K" model 65 & 66 Stangs. Also the 63 & 64 Fairlane had a 9" but only in the Sports Coupe "K" models. BB Stangs & Fairlanes 67 & 68 9" as well.
Duece is right on. The 57-59 Station Wagon was the narrow 9" so was the early Bronco rear only. I think the V8 and not the 6 though. Could be wrong on that one.
Good Chart to use that I had saved from some web site. May help you. These are all 9" applications.

That chart has so many mistakes I won't take the hour or so it would take to identify them all. <!-- / message --><!-- edit note -->

Actually the 57-9 Ford rear end IS 52" - HOUSING FLANGE TO HOUSING FLANGE, not axle flange where the wheel goes. 65-6 Mustang is 52 1/4. Add about 5" for axle flange to axle flange.

And I believe the Bronco was also 52" but with a centered pumpkin

You are right that chart appears to be housing flange to housing flange but there are still several mistakes plus Ford had different offsets from the housing flange to axle flange which makes this chart almost meaningless without an acompanying overall width chart. Case in point about axle flange offset the 1958-1972 F100 axle, in 1968 Ford added wider 2 1/2" brakes and new axle shafts making the overall axle width about 3/4" wider per side even though the housing is the same width. As far as mistakes 4 I see off the bat are the Bronco, the 1963-1969 Falcon and 1963-1969 Comet (both changed to Fairlane length axles for 1966) and the 1971-1973 Mustang ( widened, same width as 1970-1971 Fairlane/Torino).

Maverick 8" in rears converted to 9" are being sold on Ebay w/28spline axels.
