Looks great! I just added you to the HAMB Merc Club. Check out the thread and ask any questions you may have cause almost all the HAMBers who own Mercs read the thread. Especially if you're looking for parts...
lower it no chop unless you can talk flamedabone to take it on. but he said he is never going to chop another merc . so ill leave the top it will be shiny black some day
double check your bushings if they look good and arent sloppy i would run the stock ones. had some repops on a build before and the bushings and rubber boots rotted and starting cracking before the car was finished.. most of the time they just need a set of king pins and bushings. reccomend gettin rid of the stock tie rods too!!
Kanter auto parts has the suspension parts. slddnmatt is right, the rubber parts are terrible. If you buy the kit, throw away the dust seals and get yourself some 3/4 rubber hose and cut yourself some new ones.
Unchopped is cool! James Dean style is my favorite look for a Merc. Nosed, decked, and lowered a little.
Don't look at me....I'm NEVER gonna chop another one..The last one damn near killed me. Glad you got that car, it is one solid sumbitch...She willl make a nice little mild kustom. Gimme a holler if you need any help with teh heavy lifting. -Abone.
I get PISSED everytime I see that car, knowing you got rid of it!!!! Like selling your wedding ring, hahaha!
looks like a great car to start with. i like 'em unchopped and sitting low too. look forward to watching your progress. quit looking at that picture that flamedabone posted or you will end up chopping yours for sure.
Looking good , keep up the good work! If ya want to chop it and that's what your plans are don't let anybody talk you out of it and just do it or have it done !!
yup. I am with ya Bob. I talked to an old timer and he said there are more chopped Mercs running around today than there ever was "back in the day". You have a great start there, I wouldn't chop it.
just got the engin back new crank rods 40 over pistons polished heads mild cam cleaned the frame going back in on monday im hoping the trans is ok
Great project! I'm working on my own 49. This message board has saved me so much time, and help me save a ton of money, by doing all the stuff myself. How ever you like your roof is cool with me!
this car is sick!! why are the window molding so damn perfect??!?! i have read some on this, it looks awful hard to do. and this cars are perfect!! want to do mine?? i wish mine wasnt chopped so i didnt have to deal with ALL the window issues. thats one reason not to chop your car!! imho Chris
slddnmatt makes some from brass, that is all one piece that you have chromed. Looks awesome! I'm gonna have him do some for my Merc....someday,hahaha!
Here's my 50. Not chopped. Lowered hard...nosed, decked, shaved, frenched lights, lake pipes..just some idea for ya. Doesn't have to be chopped to look cool.
