I went back to Milwaukee on leave a week ago. I had a lot of plans on what I wanted to get done, unfortunately with the wedding and the hound and hare run I didn't have much time but here are some pictures of some of the stuff I've got stashed away.

The bus looks like a '57; probably a 270 or 315? cu. in. motor. Make an inquiry to the Hemi
Club. They will be able to tell you for sure (and likely want to buy it).

AWWW that rambler would be perfect for a straight axle.
I bought 3 never got 1 of them.
one the seller wasn't the actual owner who didn't like the price I won the auction for
Another was sold by a flake that wouldn't return calls and emails for contact info except to tell me that it took to long to send him (still don't know who or where he was) the money
and the third I bought from a junkyard in Missouri. I paid for it along with 30 days storage and the guy sold it a week later, I think he was a drunk. I just gave up trying to get one. I was gonna run a 460 in it with a 9"rear.
I bought these to do it to instead:

    Bus engine

Need to find the numbers on the engine. They are stamped on the top of the block just in front of the valley cover. S****e off the gunk and compare to the list below.

Note on truck engines; on Chrysler blocks, look for a 'W' cast in relief between the core plugs. This indicates a 354 block although the finished bore may be 331. The 'W' is also found on p*** car 354 blocks.

These can be Hemi or Poly, some numbers were duplicated

Just one note -- the Rambler has a 287 (Two Eighty SEVEN), NOT a 283!! No, it's not a Chevy engine, it's an AMC Gen-1 (or Rambler V-8, whichever you prefer). They came as a 250, 287, or 327. 327 was only used in the Amb***ador or big Nash/Hudson cars. There's one notable exception -- it was used in the 1957 Rambler Rebel... but just 1500 of them!

But hey, that is a cool collection of "project material"! Would love to have one of those Avantis, the Champ, or the Lark Daytona!!
