Fixing to put the new transmission in my 53 chevy and was wondering about drilling and safety wireing the u joint boly instead of reuling the lock tabs they look pretty good but not sure if i should trust the tabs after being bent to remove the bolts. any suggestions?

Properly done, you can't go wrong with safety wire. If the retainers didn't have both tabs bent, just use the other tab. If both are bent, they are available for cheap at your parts house.

yeah went to all the major parts houses no luck called a drive shaft shop no luck called the old school trans shop here in town and no luck either. i can order them online cheap but I have had this car for a month and i am anxious to drive it haven't been able to yet thanks to the previous owner being a dumb ****. plus the heads of those bolt are kinda small so not too sure about the safety wire thing?

Can you drill a 1/8" hole all the way through and install a cotter pin? or a nylok nut or red thread lock?
