Hey, Just about to get a 4 core Rad made for the 55 and I was thinking of installing a overflow collant bottle of some sort. I am thinking of installing it on the inside of the rad support of the 55 chevy. I am trying to get an idea of one that I can get at a junk yard. Square or rectangular shaped. Not too big or small. I know I could use a beer can, I guess I want something different in that sense. Any pics or ideas would be helpful. Thanks J
Local warehouse has some that are a good size. They can be either coolant are windshield washer bottles.
i have used one of those bike water bottles. has hole right size for hose and lid screws on. not as hip as beer can i guess but prob works a little better. good luck.
What exactly is local warehouse? I tried to go to a part place but they don't have any. They use to at one time. Nice little square jobby. clean look easy mount etc.
There is a hell of a thread on overflow tanks ! should be up to 12 pages now ! Do a search . wasn't the factory one a mason jar ?
What about one of those disposable aluminum fire extinguishers ( 3 lbs) just unscrew the valve and make a cap to fit
There is a Swiss company that's been around awhile called Sigg that makes aluminum water bottles. You can find them all over now. I found one at a yard sale about 5 years ago with just this in mind, but mine's got heavy patina. You can probably polish it up nice if you wanted and I think they're around $20 or so.
Thanks for the ideas. I did end up using an aluminum overflow bottle made out of a water bottle. LOLOL It looks pretty good!
