Can anyone tell me if a 36 chevy coupe would have a metal or wood floor in the original configuration. I'm looking at one and it has a wood floor, just wondering if that is original or not.
A friend of mine has a 36 Chevy Standard coupe. The complete floor is metal. His has a removable metal transmission access panel in the middle of the floor that is secured with screws. His doors are full of wood though. In fact I've seen later production 36 Chevies that had all metal doors! I had a 36 Chevy Master years ago and it also had an all metal floor.
Floors are metal. Late model 36's had metal in the doors instead of wood. All 36's had a wood skeleton that held everything together.
dad has a 36 5 window floors are metal but there is a lot of wood. the doors are basically skins with wood. already said i know
I guess this one must have had the floors pulled out, can they be purchased as repop or do you just have to make them, is it a big deal to replace the floor. Here is the car I'm looking at, what do you think about it, I looked at it and I don't think it looks to bad, engine is stuck. Dave http://anchorage.craigslist.org/cto/819198986.html
36 will have metal floors but there is a wood frame behind the rocker running from the fire wall to about riser over the axle, when removing the carpet you will see parts of this wood frame it kind of looks like 4X4 , and most but not all doors have a wood frame.
they made 2000 standard model 2dr sedans with all metal doors as a test run for the following year. I have seen several of these over the years.
With all of this said, what would I run into with this project, the car is already painted and no metal flooring in the car, will it still be possible to weld in metal flooring and not ruin the paint job? Dave
yeah you can weld and not ruin paint. they make protective blankets to help from sparks burning the paint. just be careful. prepare your work area.
