Does anyone have any pictures of early 60's era drag trucks? I am building a 30 chevy truck with the intentions of it being modeled loosely off the "bad news" C/Altered truck. any pics of a few of these old racers would be greatly appreciatted.
You can find pictures of "bad news" in the spring 2008 HOT ROD Deluxe magazine. The truck has been found and restored.Great story.
I read the story, it was short though and didnt lend a lot of information. thanks for the pictures though, 6 carbs and hood!!
I've got some pictures of Charlie's truck. he ran at Dover a bunch. I don't know if I've got them scanned to where I can send them though, and I'm traveling until next week.
If that's same place, same time, they sure work fast! Look again distance from cab to rear wheel changed. Looks channeled too!Different pipes, whitewalls.
The 2 black & white photos were taken the same day at the same place by me. Two different altered trucks at Minneaota Dragways that day. I'm sure all of you know that. For you photography buffs: taken with a Brownie Hawkeye box camera.
29bowtie, I know that you knew that I knew that you were just having fun, you know? It does show a couple things though; there were primer cars and "bobber" trucks "back in the day" . At least in the frozen wastelands of Minnesota.
Anyone else have photos of nose up drag trucks from that period? What about similar roadster pickups- especially 26/27 Fords with square rollbars? Early on before they turned into fire breathing fuel altereds. Something like this one but in race trim? Dan
Fast trucks are far superior to any ohter form of hot rod. It's like a dog breeding with a chimpanzee; people thin it shouldnt happne, but when it does....LOOK OUT.
If I ever build another hot rod it will be a truck in the style of the trucks on this thread. Keep the pics commin... Smokey
Bad News ...C/A built by Charlie Boucher is now Restored and just put "Bad News" in Search at www.doverdragstrip.com forum page for tons of photos then and now .
Hey Guys this truck was built buy Charlie and his buddies , The car Club was the Watertown Customs est. 1955 a few members are still around. Roger is the restorer and current owner he lives in Watertown and still has the truck as a memorial to Charlie. The last time I saw it was 2005 it was covered in the back of his garage you have to see it in person pictures do it no justice Roger said he almost went broke restoring it.
