No dont do it. It all comes down to what you want, Its your car, it has to meet with what you have or the look your going for Magoozi..I dont know about the hiding sins deal .., fenders add alot of work to a Rod. and the only thing they seem to hide is the frame, they dont hide your mill. but add a whole lot more work to the build , so i dont see it as a short cut at all, I think taking them off is a quick way to get out of the work involved in building a rod with fenders..so touche
i guess everbody was right , It all depends on your needs, are you maried, also if you dont have a vintage engine, you want to put a hood on it , and hide the sins, plus you wouldent have to chopp it , leave the fenders.
I want to run fenders on my A sedan but the ones I have now are in to bad of shape for me to fix and finding good ones are really expensive, repops don't look or fit as good and front and rears cost about $1500.00. So for now I am going to spend that money on other things to get the Rod on the the road so I can enjoy it. Maybe in the future I will find a set to put on it then.
Then either choice works. If you were single I was going to point out that you need to ask some of the girls you know what they think. Most times they favor fenders and seem to be attracted to guys with fendered cars. Fenderless cars are perceived as somewhat hooliganish and the fathers of the young ladies would perhaps look askance at a highboy styled "hot rod", but be in favor of a car that looks somewhat original. You might ask your wife what she prefers. If her answer falls into line with what you want, then you get a few husband points. If not, you can probably weasel out of what's really a non-problem. Perhaps losing a few husband points along the way. Nothing like husband points . . . so difficult to gain and so easily lost....
C9 is right speaking from a woman's point of view i would have to say since you are not chopping it put the fendes on, it takes more work but it looks a lot better
Good looking A Von Rigg. Good points too on the added work and complexity. One of the guys in our gang is building an SBC powered 29 A sedan, fenders, Corvette rear end - which I'm curious to see how it works out - and solid axle front end. Sits just about like yours. Probably a viewpoint from a past time, but it seems like coupes and roadsters are the only ones that look right sans fenders. I know, things change, but I don't have to agree with them....
Thanks for the compliment C9 coming from you , that makes me feel like im on the right track with this
Holy **** dude! After the whole speech I last wrote on money and such....forget it. That just looks right and prefect with those fenders on it. i guess im with these other guys, no chop = fenders...it just looks...right!
I think fenders on a sedan, or in my case a sedan delivery just complete the build and is worth the added work. As for if it is chopped, or not, again I don't think that matters, my 28 is chopped a meger 2 3/8 inches, it's still a personal preferance. I took a good look at my 28 with and without fenders, and with a bunch of added grief from my friends have decided to run the fenders. And now they are coming around to my way of thinking after watching the build coming together. THANKFULLY
Depends on the look you are after. I go with those that say sedan needs fenders, coupes and roadster can go either way. I have a sedan with fenders. Neal
First, I'll say that this is coming from a guy with a fenderless Tudor. You gotta do what you feel right about, but for an un-chopped A on and A frame, I say full fenders.
I don't have fenders on my 33 pickup and I won't have them on my 31 tudor but some people do worry about rock chips...... Don't run them and get a FTF [ **** The Fenders ] plate tag from here on the Hamb cl***ifieds........
Can you say, "sharp turn to the left and get a waterfall into the window and on the driver." Even more points when you turn right and darned near drown Sweetie....
it all depends if you are going to drive it or leave it in the shop like most people, i ran without front fenders on my 34 for a while, didn't like it much when it rained.
The first hot rod I layed my eyes on was a fendered Model A. After that all I dreamed about was a full fendered hot rod. Until I owned a fenderless high boy roadster and then a fenderless high boy coupe. It doesn't stop there I'm building a 30 coupe high boy style on deuce rails. I still like fendered cars, but my vote is go fenderless.
