Otxoa, a member here on the H.A.M.B., and I have been jabbering back and forth across the big pond. He's in Paloma, Spain, and here I am in Podunk, USA. It all got started about his 1955 Plymouth he has now, and how I had to leave a 1956 Kingsway over there when I left. (A Kingsway was a front half Dodge and rear half a Plymouth, made in Canada for Export) Durring our jabbering, he sent me some photos of a couple of 1935 Y Ford 2 door sedans he located over there. PERFECT hot rod material. The photos I have here that he sent me, he had his resolution of his camera set a bit high. So at this time it's hard to post all of the pictures. Anyway, a 1935 Y Ford is a English made Ford that looks like a baby 1933 or 34 sedan. Maybe because they were exposed to all that rainy weather in England, they shrank. I suggested to him that he ought to start his own thread here and keep taking pictures and post them here as his project goes along. A couple of things that make this whole thing usual are, over in Spain, there are very few Hot Roddders, and this Y Ford makes for a perfect choice for rod material. So Tuesday, Otxoa became the proud owner of these two cars. This is a congradulations for your find Cesar. Me and all the others here will be looking forward to following you on your build(s) View attachment 760177 .. View attachment 760179 .. View attachment 760181 .. View attachment 760183 .. Glad he saved them from the dumpster, it looks very ominous lurking back there. Very neet cars I can see where the Anglia came from.
There very cool cars. My parents know a guy that rodded one, its orange with moon disc's and a mean rubber rake. From a distance at first glance you can easily mistake one for a 34 Tudor. A baby Nailhead would fit in there nicely!! Doc.
There was one of these at this years NATS for sale. I was black with a mohair interior-red steelies-bias tires and with an 4cyl 5 speed. It was a cool car. Paint and interior was dated-but for $13,000 I thought it was a fair deal.
Model Y's are very cool cars. Gibbon did a gl*** Y coupe in the 80s. I just reread and article of a neat one in Lincoln or Omaha? SRM Garage Scene Approx 1986ish?
I think from some reading the Y was styled within Ford USA for the new small car line to be made by Ford England, then noticed (by Edsel?) by management and made the basis for the Model 40. The first year of the little car had a miniature deuce bumper!
Hell Raiser thank you very much for opening this thread, I will put more pictures of both cars and also in the process. I thank you for your opinions and advice in order to build the hot rod. Greetings from Spain.
Here's an older restoration I saw a couple of months ago. Looks like the bottom of the grille has rusted away. Neat little car.
i was just gonna say that i believe they started designing and prototyping the model y in late 31 and went into production august 32
When Gibbon's came out with the fibergl*** version I lusted after one. I had just bought my first V8 60 and the wheels started turning. After a couple of frustrating contacts with Gibbon about a delivery date the idea got shelved and the obsession with '32's took a death grip on my focus. With all of the cool downsized motors available today I think you could make a *****in version that would serve one well with the cost of gas. Sadly the increase in my waistline won't let that long ago dream rise from the ashes. Frank
I was the same Frank. Only I was around 17 and could not afford to get my HenryJ on the road let along buy a new body!
