    Fellas,
A buddy and I are heading down to the pile -up this year from Canada in a 1950 Pontiac 4 door straight 8 Torpedo Back that has a stock drive train. We have went over the car with a fine tooth combo and all we need to do is source some universal joints for good measure. Any ideas of where we can get them or the part numbers for them? We can't wait to hit the road in this beast in a few weeks.
    Thanks
    J

McQuay-Norris part number for 1946-55 Pontiac is 2031 if that helps.
Napa interchanges that to PUJ 508.
It looks like it is still used on some HD equipment.

According to NAPA's catalog that is the rear joint.

They list PUJ 507 as the front joint.

    Is NAPA in Canada?

Yes Ed we do have NAPA in Canada! Where did you find those part numbers! That is just great! Man I totally appreciate that big time. I definatley think these need to be changed before our trip. Hopefully the new ones are at least greaseable because the ones in there right now are not.

Sure ... NAPA is a good choice ...
I have a Good parts guy/girl at CarQuest that seems to be able to find almost anything I need for my 54 Caddy ...
The part numbers won't be in the computer ... but if they have a good parts guy ... he'll have all the books to look it up for you ...

I get PRECISION Part # 507 for the front & PRECISION Part #508 for the rear too ...

I got the McQuay number from an old catalog.

The Napa site, www.napaonline.com, listed the joints.
    They even showed a picture.
I was surprised they went back that far.
Napa is usually pretty good for old parts.
They are about the only chain store that still can look in books!

Hey I sourced them up here in Canada with those numbers you gave me. THey were able to cross reference the US numbers with Canadian ones. They were about the same price too. Not to bad at all. Thanks Vette!
