anyone familiar with those clear bullet shaped headlight covers they sold back in the early 1960s? i think i remember seeing some on ebay once, but haven't had much luck finding any..if worse comes to worse, i can make a pattern and have my friend vic (excellent resin model builder) cast me some out of clear resin,,,,just figured i'd take a shot here first and see if anyone had any leads/input/thoughts,,,thanks guys.

In case anyone is wondering what Jim is talking about here, Here is a shot of an early Doug Thompson Merc (that got really wild after these shots)...but you can see that this car is wearing those headlight covers, although it looks like one was missing...

BTW Jim, if you decide not to go with the 58 Lincolns, these will compliment your taillights nicely...

My brother had them in 1955 on a 53 Ford Victoria. He called the car Marilyn.

"Marilyn", how about "Jayne"? How about "Mamie"?

How about (insert your favorite 50s-60s pinup girl/actress here)?

  11. Good luck finding a set Kustom7777. In all my years of building kustoms and collecting the goodies that go with them, I've only seen one set and they were the worse for wear.

They are definitely one of the rarest of the rare! E

I would think even if your could find them they would be so cloudy and yellowed that they would not look very good anyways. I think your best bet is to have a pair made. To bad you can't weld plastic with your mig:D

    Jim,

Perhaps you can vacuform them over an old headlight bucket, or Appleton Spotlight cone.
I think the vacuformed clear plastic will hold up better than cast clear resin.
