i got a question about te spindle mounts used on the 1/4 mile cars. the spoked ones that run no front brakes. do u need a speacial set of spindles or will they fit anything. i got a set of round-back 4? spindles. and wanted a set for my project cause it is going to be a 60's style flop topper, 27 T 2-door coupe.

Spindle mounts are usually fit Ford or Anglia spindles. Sometimes Chevy.

Round 40 Ford Spindles? Yes, you can find wheels for these.

American racing & Halibrand made magnesium spindle mounts. Hallcraft still makes spokes I think & Radir makes aluminum ones.

Ford spindles that have been cut the make lite for drag strip only cars,so no round back even shows.
I like'm on drag strip only cars, but they have no place on the street with out working diskbrakes added to them.
Only a fool runs a car with no front brakes on the street.

  9. I didn't have anybody stop by the day I put the body on the chassis, so I set it on end....looked pretty cool, so I snapped a couple pictures before I got in the front and lowered it on the chassis by myself! It is in the classified section too....:D

  12. Well, if your gonna run these kind of wheels on the street, look at the new ones that Radir sells, Littleman has them on the front of his truck now...They are set up for brakes....in the long run you will be better off......I say make it a drag car and get them pipes burning and turn up the organ! Oh, and thanks, just someting I threw together to get some more room....can't believe it hasn't sold yet....

i actually seen a guy with a 32 rpu with spindle mounts on the front and a blown hemi on the strip have the throttle stick at bout a 1000 and the rear brakes weren't enough to stop it until he hit the traps. and they say run wat u brung is "safe" needless to say it was the first pass. seen it run not to long ago and with front brakes and a chute, hmmmm why now?

  16. The original spindle mount spokes really didn't have enough meat in the hub to mount a rotar. There were guys who tried it, only to have the mounting hardware pull out of the hub.
In classes or states that required 4 wheel brakes, often the front calipers and rotors were there but not connected to the master cylinder.
My advise is to rethink your plans.
