lot 402 looks interesting, a c.1939 sprint car estimate seems right

  2. Probably not going to be any deals there. But some of the stuff will not bring what they think it will, either.

A few nice ones but the majority is way inflated price wise. Be nice to have an extra 50,000 laying around for that special buying spree!

Yes we would rather not know about 32 Fords being sold if the information comes from the seller or someone involved in the sale, we prefer to be ignorant. We can find old 32's on our own, thank you.

What or where is the "general discussion area" ? All I can find is the hokey *** message board (this board).

Sometimes spam is fine. The local guys may not have heard about it and there sure looks to be some nice usable ch***is parts we all use...and they might be priced OK.

I say thanks for posting because it's stuff we use.

I may be the only HAMB member that saw the '32 Ford collection while the owner was alive. I have no connection with the auction, and nothing to gain by what I have to offer, I know the guy that bought the collection and he has been in the hobby for 40+ years. The guy who collected the '32's LOVED Fordoors there were 11 in the lower level of one building, second favorite was the Roadster, I think there were 6. There were 4-5 Model A Fords as well. He was into BANGERS, at least 4 OHV B motored cars, and V8 Ford SPEED Equipment, but insisted that NO modifications were made to any of the cars under restoration. Every hop up part was a bolt on, without any extra holes drilled in any part of the car. They were all good show quality restorations, and should bring good money, but it may flood the market with Fordoors. The black race car with the twin cam sure looked nice, but the fact that it is a total recreation puts it in the replica cl*** IMO. I'm glad the catalog discription on it is honest. If I had any money I'd be there, wish me luck on my LOTTO ticket buys this week.

After looking at the auction site online there seems to be some fine 32's both open and closed varieties. Also some other nice Fords and early Ford related race cars, not to mention the large load of 32 Ford parts, unrestored examples, etc. As with any sale of this type there is always a bargin, so I guess I will attend as this much #@ stuff doesn't come along in one place very often. Thanks Pierce for your post. I for one am happy to know about the sale

    AGREED,

the 34 woodie should bring triple the auction estimate.. the last 34 wagon that went at auction brought 148,000!

I've been planning to have a yard sale sometime this fall, hoping to make an extra 4 or 5 hundred clams. Now I read about this cat selling probably 4 or 5 million worth of old junk. I have never felt so poor.

I would rather read about this than "what motor should I put in my 1979 Camaro". And yes that was a recent post. Thanks. :)

  14. Yep, I tripped over 32 Fords the other day. Of course none of them were '32s, there just was 32 total cars.

Another GREAT car to watch is the Wills St. Clair V8 Roadster, that should bring more than the estimate.

  16. Larz Anderson Park is cool, I used to live a few miles from there when I was a kid.

Is any one familiar with the REM engines in two of these cars? Very impressive looking motors but I have never come across another.

Just a gut feeling, but I think they may be a 20 year old limited edition run some very skilled craftsman built. The Gilmer belt drive cams are the first tip off.

Looks like the 1932 Ford collection didn't see much bidding, or were a lot of the cars removed from the auction?

I went through the results and there were quite a few good deals, especially on two of the Fordors and the V-8 parts. Maybe Bonham's high end image (and high estimates) kept us grubby hot rodders from attending.
