    Hello,
I did a 283 into an S10 back in 1995. I used a t5 with bellhousing, clutch, and hydraulics out of a late eightys z28. Everything bolted right up and with 3.42 rearend gear it had great performance and still got 22-24 mpg. Good luck with your swap, its a great combination.

If its a 2.8 style trans, you need the clutch from a 4.3 Astro van. That's the only disc that is the right size, and has the 2.8 size spline.

A little more advice--The 283 probably has the 153 tooth flywheel that's used with the 10.4" clutch. The Astro Van clutch is an 11" clutch and won't work with the bellhousing/flywheel for the smaller Chevy clutch. Also, check that your block is drilled to accept the offset bolt starter required with the larger 168 tooth flywheel. The option would be to use a smaller clutch disk ("10.4") with a 1" 14 spline hub. They're available in the aftermarket. That way you can use any of the common small bellhousings and neutral balance flywheel combinations.

  7. The Raven has his T5 hooked up via a '57 chebby bell. Just get yourself a GM stick bell and run with it. I think that the ****** is spaced out a bit so its not a bolt together but its a hot rod. Hot Rods are not bolt together.

any SBC bellhousing for a T5, T4, T10, Muncie, Saginaw, etc. will work. Make sure the T-5 you are using is from a 4.3 or an SBC (Camaro or Firebird). The ones from a 2.5 and 2.8 have too long a pilot portion of the input shaft and will need to have the splines relieved (or the trans spaced back a bit) Plus the torque rating on the 10-spline input shaft is low.

I myself am building a pair of hybrid T5's with S-10 shift covers and rear housing with V8 Camaro gears and front housing.
