Had to walk away before,,but back at it again.. Got the transmission to separate. Problem now is a backasswards snap ring I can't get out,,,hell can't even really get to.. Big pic with arrows show the ring other is the assembly .. I tried taking the gears off teh shaft but only the Syncro will come off,,can't see any snap rings holding the others on and absolutly no online info or help from Chiltons or Motor books ( 1951 Packard trans ) thought of going to a transmission shop ,,but doubt they even know what it is and it would get messed up
Tap the bearing forward to take the pressure off the snap ring then you sould be able to pry out one end of it enough with a pick to get a small flat head under it. Use a 90 deg. pick to work around it untill it's out. Hope this helps.
