im building a 26 buick coupe.i would like to see some pictures of your open wheel cars and what you did
'40 Willys axle with 2WD Jeep spindles (mail truck maybe ?). Jeep hubs have the 5 1/2" B.C. same as early pre-'49 Ford. I think he told me he made some spacer washers to lengthen the axle boss just a bit. Lots of drop in that axle.
I too would like to see more, but one question- Getting it low with leafs up front makes it look like you have (at most?) only like an inch of travel- I know customs are for comfort and all but DAMN! Do they all ride super-stiff or what?? It looks like you'd bottom out on EVERYTHING
I'll admit the gr*** is a little deceiving..... it's a MAS tube drop axle unknow how dropped it is. in those pics it's mounted above the springs, that's how it was built, and running the fully packed leafs (7 leafs) it wasn't bad. I built it when i lived in GA and the roads were smooth...moved back to WI and the roads **** *** and i was having problems with the ubolts bumping the bottom of the frame, so over winter it welded brackets on the top and put the axle under the leafs, and removed 2 of the leaf springs and flipped on upside down and put it on top of the pack. That raised it up about 2 3/4" inches and now no problems. As far as riding out it's smooth. I like keeping the parallel leafs, makes people scratch there heads at shows. I'm thinking about actually having the stock axle dropped for my 32 and keeping the suspension as stock completely and seeing how low i can get it. kinda a ****ty shot of how it sits now, but it's all i got right now and it sitting on concrete, not gr*** (hilborn is just mocked on, not running it yet....)
yes....front and back, don't remember how much, but if you really want i can measure... hopefully this helps a bit...
if you could measure the front, that would be sweet..i like the way your truck sits anyone else have any setups to show off?
