stupid electrical question

    a relay designed of postive ground will work the same if the system is switched to negative ground? right?

    As long as the relay does not have a diode across the coil it should work. A lot of time a diode is installed to keep the coil inductive kickback from damaging anything else that might be polarity sensitive, including the source that provides voltage to the relay coil.
