I tore off the front of the poor thing and ripped its' heart out! Now I have to clean off the frame, firewall, etc etc before hitting it with some POR15. Any ideas what I should use to take off 60 years of hardened crud that's almost like cement? Start chipping away or sand blast? Ideas are appreciated! The 216 was running before I pulled it, so if anyone is interested in it...drop me a line, I'm sure we could work something out...and I'm sure my wife would love to see it leave the driveway! Here's what I'm finishing cleaning up to drop in:
Oven cleaner works well.Be ready to catch(plastic drop cloth) all the crud it boils loose, then maybe use baking soda for a stop bath.
Diesel fuel works well to remove tar and heavy crud like that. Use a spray bottle to apply and let sit for a few minutes.. then s****e off or pressure wash. There is a commercial product designed for removing this ****.. cant remember the name right now but it works great.. lemme see if i can find it. edit - It's called Jasco paint and epoxy stripper. Apply and let sit for a little while, pressure wash it off.
