Here's my 4 door daily in it's temporary please-don't-rust-too-much-more paint job. I don't know about "cool", but I like it... I took a grinder to the tires since this pic and added at least an inch of whitewall. But looking at it now, I think I liked the skinny whites better!
My pal, and fellow WHEELER, Jim Moore (1955hemi) has a killer '64 Mercury Commuter 4 dr. longroof wagon.....check it out on our website..... He might even sell it to you if you contact him! Brucie
So what do guys do when they have a 4door and rather have a two. Are they welding the rears shut and shaving them or what?
My front door latches were shot. So while I was putting in bearclaw replacements, I just shaved all the handles. That was way easier than engineering the old exterior handles to work with the new latch mechanism. I've seen some just shave the rear handles. But the doors are so short on my '54, I figured it would look kind of goofy to do that. I'm not really trying to p*** it off as a two door at all. I don't have that 4 door aversion like a lot of people do. I have to admit that I've started to get it a little more of it the more I mess with these cars. According to my Dad, a lot of kids in the Southeast in the 50's got their start hopping up their parents' hand me down 4 doors.
Welding the back door shut on a four door looks like ****. I've never seen it done where it didn't just look like a ****ed up four door. Here's what I did with my '60 Plymouth to make a four door into a two door. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=78120
thanks for all of the posts guys!!! the dodge looks really good w/ the vert & the buick looks awesome too . my uncle has 3 4door buicks i just got a grille off one of them for the caddy hopefully he will run across abumper for me
Mine of 11 years..... 1 3/4" lower than the Custom 300 and 2" longer in the body. Factory chops are cool too and a nice big gap when the windows are down. It's yours and you like it, that's what counts! Cheers, C
i could be wrong but i really want to think it's 5 inches. they are on the road back home to va beach today from winston-salem(heavy rebel) i'll probably talk to him later in the week and i'll try and remember to ask but i'm almost positive it's straight 5 inches...ken....
ive got a 4 door 55 olds, a 4 door 60 impala and a 4 door 52 chevy... just remember more doors = more wh**es...... or more room for the family
Hey, fourdoors are cool! I think they piss the "2 doors only" contingent off 'cause the 4-door usually cost more new!
I think 4drs make good rides and its not just that I own one that makes me feel this way. I've seen a lot of cool 4drs. To each his own, everybody has there own opinion.
