If you're referring to his screen name... Dolphins are mammals, not fish... "go back to making metal ****pie" would be more appropriate.

    I'm just sayin'.

And as for your other post, I totally agree with you.

"I don't agree. I road raced motorcycles for 20 or so years. We always said it wasn't a matter of if but a matter of when. I've watched many an experienced driver/rider go off the track. Sometimes you just overcook a turn... "

Isn't part of racing pushing the limits including pushing your own? Maybe he got a little hot and bothered through a corner and lost it... oh well? If we didn't push it and wreck occ***ionally, we'd never go any faster.

I've done a little racing in random British cars like TR6's and GT6's... i've wiped out a bit, just to recover/rebuild and go faster the next time out...

Look, the bottom line is this.....Enzo didn't care for 'road cars'. He built them to finace (and a fine job he did) his addiction......his addiction to racing. He didn't care how valuable a car was. He cared how well it raced. This guy was doing with his car what it was (is) built to do. That makes him beyond rockstar status to me. Enzo is still smiling.
Damn, I wish I could have met him :(.

    And occ***ionally crashing. :)

Here's a pic I took at a Cobra restoration shop in Torrance of a Daytona rear spoiler that got a little dinged up at a historic event. They even got it signed by Carroll. :)

As for the car - I think it's awesome. Might be the last time you get to see a crashed 250TR! Complete pain in the **** for the owner, but I hope he realizes that we little people appreciate that he runs it hard. I know it will be fixed. Thanks for the details Beach Bum!

Sounds like he actually works on it himself. Even if he has to get help, it'll be fixed. Bet he's having fun .

No kidding. A few years back, my brother got to ride in some famous '68 Camaro Trans Am car owned by Paul Gentilozzi and driven by Tomy Drissi at Sears Point. While they were waiting to go onto the track, my brother asked Drissi hwat happens if he were to wreck the car. Tomy's answer was cl***ic racer, "...it's a race car fer crissake, whaddya think, it's never been wrecked before?..." My brother says Drissi drove like it was never gonna be seen again by anyone, sideways everywhere, banging shifts, full-on all the way. That's what race cars are for, and it's great to see rich people use them like that so poor people like me can see them.

Ouch, At least he was able to walk away from it and from the looks of it outside of being hell for expensive the damage isn't that severe. It almost looks ready to go race again after the big guy pulled the fender out by hand.

A big round of applause to Mr Love for taking the car out were it belongs and letting it play. Beats the hell out of having it stuffed in a stuffy climate controled building with ropes around it to keep the people beyond arms reach.

Thanks. That makes sense. I've been to the Monterey Historics and while it is a real race, many of the guys only run at about 8/10's to 9/10's. Some guys really do go all out but I wasn't sure if he was one of them or not.

You, obviously need to be somewhere else doing something more attuned to your interests, which, again obviously, are far removed from the focus of this board. Don't bother to let us know how it turns out because using your own words, who cares:(

  16. Like one of the local rod builders sez, "it's just a pile of metal".
Those guys are in the same catagory as the guys flying the warbirds.
Ya hate so see them get cracked up but it's soooo damn cool.

  17. Has that got filler in the front guard? I would think for a Million dollar alloy car there wouldnt be any.

Kind of hard to tell, maybe a little. Some of what I thought might be filler looks to be the reflection off the aluminum on closer inspection. But its a race car, not a show car, anyway. Even if he did have it filler-free at some point its hard to keep them that way if its being raced on a regular basis.

Props to him for using the car for what its supposed to be used for! Most of the old race cars were crashed more than a few times back in the day, the real shame is seeing them collecting dust in museums and rich collector's garages.

Looks like the wheels are still in the right places, might just be some body work on that incident. Not cheap of course, but I suspect it will be ready for the track soon enough. :D

Great post, especially with the insight on the owner. I love driven cars. They were all slightly new and used beaters at one point, regardless of how valuable they are today.

  21. wow, pretty sad to see, but like its been sad, enzo's smiling, and it was out doing what it did best. I had the pleasure to back out and drove a lap around my buddys shop about 8 to 9 years ago behind the car number TR#002.. not really a drive, but how many can say, they drove, let alone the second one produced in their lives, I can afford the big ones, but lil ones add up

WOW...The video is great, and a shame this car got into this accedent. The shop maintaining this car is Dennison International in Puyallup Wa. and they have a great reputation for vintage racecars and concourse restorations. The shop I work at does alot of there body and paint work. I have not heard a cause of the crash but the owner has been wanting to do a full restoration on the car for a while...now is his chance. It is currently at Dennison and will be repaired and hopefully fully restored. All the guys in the blue shirts are from that shop and Butch Dennison (shop owner) is the "big guy" who pulls out the fender.

Thanks Guys for all your input. Glad to hear ..."The rest of the story"...

By the way, Butch "Big Guy" Dennison must double for the straightening rack back at the shop !
