Hello, folks, from England. I run the Batten Special - '32 Ford with a flathead and 3-speed - on the road and in sprints and speed hillclimbs. He (the Batten is definitely male) was built in '35 as a Brooklands racer. I've had the flathead bug since I ran an Allard back in the '60s so you'll realise that I'm not a youngster. This forum has some great members and threads so I expect to learn lots and maybe contribute a bit. Glad to be here. Onwards and upwards, Neil.
Ooh - so glad you're here! I've wanted to know all about your car for soooo long! Welcome aboard - Phil.
I've been here a while Steve, it's Neil that's joined.... So, that picture is at the start of Prescott? And I'm sure you run in VSCC events - how do you get away with that what with that evil Blue Oval flathead beneath the bonnet? Just curious!
Good question, Phil. The VSCC eventually decided that "Boz" the Batten Special is sufficiently interesting, with pre-war competition history at Brooklands etc, to be acceptable to the club. Also accepted are three other FHFs - the Ballamy, a production Batten and a production Ford which raced in a team in Ireland. They can't keep up with Boz! Onwards and upwards, Neil.
Looks good Neil , welcome ! Never have worked out why the VSCC seem so anti-ford , shame as there's some lovely cars about that I'm sure they're members would appreciate .
hey biggles your more than WELCOME here mate! and believe me there are plenty off old school racers. i was drag racing in the 60s govna! HA! but i wouldnt wont to play u snooker or darts. HA! so pull up your laptop and share bloke. just call me pop.
Hello, I am new to the board. I like the old pictures people post. I keep doing searches on cars and end up back here at this site so I thought I would join. Thanks.
