Hey guys, new to the site so I wanted to get your take on an idea I hatched over on bangshift.com which got mixed reviews( mostly that no one would care). How about an east coast old school drag week ( or a long weekend for that matter) for 1960 and older cars, OEM steel body with any engine so long as its in the cut off of year, any trans. you want but a Lenco, points dist., bias ply tires with maybe a standard size and make pie crust slick that everyone has to use. No blowers, turbos or spray. No trailers or towing, naturally. You will need to p*** tech at the tracks for the time your junk runs as well as all DOT laws. Those are the only rules IMO that would apply. The concept is to maybe cut a lot of the cost of the high tech stuff out of the picture, and have to rely on the junkyard crawl, swap meets, etc, instead of mail order, at the same time rolling with the challenge of beatin' old junk to an inch of its life. The year cut off is to help with the cost in the sence that most of the OEM Hi-Po stuff would be to new. The idea is to just have fun and enjoy the hobby more then coming up with a better event then someone else. Any in-put would be great,,,, good, bad or in-different. Please join us over at BS.com if your interested in airing your opinion there as well, Thanks for your time,,,Jeremy.

novel idea. I participate in Hot Rod Drag Week and know many of the staff. That is a huge undertaking that takes lots of sponsorship to cover the costs. Participation is low and fallout is great. I love the concept, but would have to wonder how many would actually participate. If time and money allowed, I would.
