I just bought a 1940 Pontiac Deluxe Coupe. Looking for anyone who has parts or any information to find them.

Parts that I need are : Parking light lens, cigarette lighter, parts for front bumper, rocker panel or skirt for p***enger side, sun visors, hood ornaments.

I have the 6 cyl. flathead & transmission for sale or trade. (motor is not locked up)

Here are some pics of car & parts I need. Thanks for any help.

The car did not come with running boards but instead the rocker panels that is shown in the pic with the paint can. I was wondering if this part is being reproduced or if I could locate one. Would any other parts (such as chevy) be interchangeable ? Thanks for your info.

Good find! I was the one that posted yesterday that I picked up a 1940 Pontiac Deluxe Six, basicly a barn find.

Yours looks alot nicer than mine, since it looks like it's driveable.

As for the floorboards, I'm not sure if your came with them since it's the "silver streak".

Check out these two links to learn more about what you have. This is the best information I found yet.

I checked out the two websites and learned alot. They had some great information. Thanks for sending the links.

I don't have any parts for sell since I am going to try to keep the car all original, other than the motor & transmisssion.

I also found my car in a barn..a pole barn... the wheels were locked up and had no interior but a mouse-chewed front seat. I am looking for some interior parts and a back seat.

Good luck with your project !

  7. When I had my 40 Pontiac, I was going to put a mid 60's Pontiac OHC 6 cylinder with the automatic into it. Use a steering column from a 49 Pontiac with hydramatic quadrent on it, and cable shift it. It's practically a "drop-in"...

Those parking lights look like "41-46" chevy pickup.

Yeah, I didn't know much about mine until I bought it. Then I went out to find everything I could.

I'm going to try and keep mine stock too, even try to keep the 6. Mine looks like it'll start with some TLC. Need to find me a generator since mine is missing.

As for the interior, it sounds just like mine. Not much left of it at all.

At least your floors are prob solid. Mine rockers are pretty much goes, as well as the front floor.

I'm looking for some interior parts myself, back seat included.

If you happen to stumble on a front driver inner fender in your searching for parts, I need one really bad......

Very cool ride! check out www.pontiacparts.net
They have lots of hard to find stuff and are very good to deal with.
I've used them several times for little stuff on my 37.

Wow thats a great 40.I wish mine had looked that good when i started on mine.As for parts I see you need a hood nose emblem.GOOD LUCK I HAVE BEN LOOKING FOR 6 YRS.i I am pretty sure the clearance lens are same as 41 to 46 chevy truck-I have a 46.I am not sure on the covers-look the same.KEEP A CHECK ON EBAY FOUND STUFF THERE.Thats whats way cool to me, go to a cruise or show and you are usually the ODD ROD-not to many pontiac coupes around. The 40 is a stand alone year for pontiacs-from the cowl back same as a1000 series chevy-or the business coupe like mine is.GOOD LUCK on parts. The front end chrome.bumper stuff should all fit from 25-26-27 series.

My 1st car was a 40 4door Super Deluxe 6 - My father had used it at his gsa station as a service vehicle for 6 years - that thing was industructable - I did change engine (6 to 8) but that was only because i could.
The 8 went faster while the 6 had an unbeleaveable low end.

What are you still missing if anything, I also have a 40 Pontiac, 222.7 flathead 6 that I'm looking for an exhaust manifold for and a spare tire rim, I know a bunch of places to get parts from, one is California Pontiac on the net.

I have a set of good running boards for a 2 door sedan. Do not know if they would fit a coupe or not.
Let me know. I am from Bluffton, Indiana. I bought my 2 door sedan 10 years ago. Hope to be driving it this summer. It has a long project. davlin@adamswells.com

Hey 40 deluxe coupe, Those trim panels down by the rockers are called "stream boards". They were installed in place of regular type running boards. 60 Special
