I went to Pocono Friday with a buddy in his Model A sadan(the one that smoked the tires all the time in the autocross)
We had a blast. There is lots of room for lots of cars. I think GoodGuys found a home for an Eastcoast event.
Hank, We layed back a bit to get some space around us and others and then went 115 mph in the sedan down the front straight. Alot of guys flew down the front straight. The rest of the track was about 70 for us. A guy that we met from NC with maroon 66 Chevelle guessed that he was at about 130 mph (his speedo broke) A black and gold Mustang was goin' real fast also. 40 Willys gasser down the front stretch was way cool too.
The track is wide so some were goin' 50mph and it caused no problem. This track thing is a must for anyone that has never done it. Also the autocross. Keep the car in first gear and run the shit out of it. The course is not fast enough to get in much trouble. A guy was runnin' the autocross with a 350/350 stock suspension 60 Chevy and havin' a blast.
When the coupe id finished this is a must do event for me...

The track was open from 5 to 8 pm. Three lap sessions with no limit to amount of sessions per car. We waited 'bout 15 minutes between runs. You had to ask for a track pass at registration. We did two sessions. For the autocross they teched for seat belts, battery hold down, steering slop, column mount strength and a visual look over.

I was going as fast as my Merc would go down the front straight when the driveshaft let loose and came out somewhere between turn 1 and the tunnel .

  12. What a great weekend, met and talked to a lot of kool car guys, other then the rain today, the weather was good. I thought there would have been more vendors!

Did I mention that the track was a real rush, even at 100 MPH plus with bias ply tires and a flathead.:D:D:D

I put 800 miles on my flathead this weekend, and had a great time. Thanks to all that were there.:)

  13. Track cruise sure was fun, I have a new respect for NASCAR guys going into turn 1. I registered Friday afternoon and was # 879. Weather was not Goodguys friend again this year. If they come back, I'll be back.
