Whats up guys, Ive been searching the internet, making a rebuild list of parts to rebuild my early 1962 Cadillac 390 engine. I wanted to stick in some roller lifters in there so I can use modern oil without zinc. I only can find stock OE cam and lifter sets. Any ideas??

    Thanks,

SBC or Pontiac lifters are what will work as I'm told.

Is it just the size ? I dont know how to spec out a lifter other then how tall and wide. Dont know if the internals have to be spec'ed out for lift??? I really dont know.

The subject of custom rollers has been kicked around for sometime now in regards to EarlyHemis and the bottom line appears to be that custom roller packages are available but very expensive unless you get into 10-20 units.
Any cam manufacturer that makes rollers for other engines will have the ability to make one for a Cad (or a Hemi), but they may, or may not, have the desire.

If you do a search for Hemi Roller Cam you can read through the threads and see what is happening. Same basic info applies to any engine.
As for lifters, you will need to compare the stock lifter diameter with what is currently available, either oem or aftermarket, and then compare the location of the oil feed groove, Cad to whatever.
You can bore or sleeve the lifter bores ($$$) to accomodate new lifters, but the oil feed is critical on a hydraulic.
