My '60 Buick has been a long time in coming together, with most of the work done while driving it. For the latest upgrades, it's been ripped apart for about a year, but now it's back on the road and I thought I'd share a few pics with the HAMB. Yep, I'm happy to be back behind the wheel. It's just driver, never gonna be a show car by any stretch. The interior's gutted and there are a bunch of other little details to ****on up, but Mike Acri (Cafone on here), his son Nico and I have been working hard lately to get it to where it is. Thanks, Mike! Here's how the thing started off, when ScaryLarry found it and he and Clark made me buy it. Haha. Then it got a temporary rattle can paint job along with new rockers and some shaved trim. Had lots of fun times driving it around like this. The other Summer 'Sawzall' cut down the bumpers, fabricated some rolled pans, and installed the air ride. Thanks, Jeff! With those changes and some new wheels and tires, it was finally getting more of a custom vibe. I took the car up to Mike's shop a little while ago and we ripped it apart for the next step- paint! When Mike first started into it, he found that the car wasn't quite the straight original that we thought it to be. He welded in some patches and we just got serious about thrashing on it the other week. Mike, Nico and I blocksanded our fingerprints off, then sprayed some DP40 or DP48 (whichever one's the white primer). Next came the Hotrod Flatz 'Old Gold' flat metallic pearl paint. As much as I try to avoid things with ZZZZ's instead of S's in the name, I'm pretty happy with the look of the Hotrod Flatz. We pulled an all-nighter last Friday in putting the car back together (thanks also to Ben from the Road Devils for lending a hand there), and now the Buick is back on the road! I'll attach a few pics the 'traditional' way, too, in case my photobucket account gets blown out. Lots of little stuff was done over the years and lots more still needs to be finished. My club plaque covers the trailer hitch, but I keep s****ing it and popping it off. My Grandfather TIG welded up the holes in the grille. Other friends have helped with a bunch of other stuff. Putting it together has been a fun journey so far. Who knows when I'll get around to the interior. Having only 1 seat has its advantages. Thanks for checking in.
man if cafone worked on my car i would be makin sure it didnt fall apart on the road! lol it looks good man 100 times better than when you first got it
beautiful NAPPY...totally old school. man as you know- thats the way we did it in the 50s and a convertable looks even lower. THANK U THANK U from the bottom of my heart!!! just call me pop.
I'm liking the skirts. It does make it look 100 feet long.... We'll catch ya at the Showdown, Brad can take some photos for you then.
Looks *****in Nappy. I didn't think I'd like the skirts either, but I think they work. And yeah, like Mike said... I'm gonna shoot about a million pics of your car at the Showdown man.
Lookin' GOOD!, Nappy...What a cool car...its looks perfect in that color, too...Nice Job, guys! See ya'll next weekend! I really think that these MIGHT be, just the coolest Buick ever made.
Love that color, one of my favs. That car has some really nice lines. I like it...supremes would look sweet on that car but I like how yours is different as well. Either way cool looking car.
The car looks great and I REALLY like the color. Wonder how it would look on my 56 even thought the interior is green????
Nappy, When you get a free weekend I would like to start welding the surround for the back seat... One seat eliminates some h***les, but a back seat can come in handy!
Nappy that thing looks killer in the daylight!!! I must say I love the skirts!! Any time I can lend a hand I will, It was cool meeting you and hangin out.
