I think beef tallow was considered the best, but its just rendered animal fat like X38 said, because it is solid at room temp and doesn't spoil go rancid like other forms of rendered fat, it was preferred. Just use enough oil keep the lead from sticking to your paddle, and not to much that it contaminates your lead joint. Eastwood might be the only place in the US that has tallow, I got mine from Terry Cowan who started Metalshaper's back in the mid 70's, still good. Take care! tt
Thanks guys! Shit, I just passed the local meat butcher too this morning! Hi Old Goalie! Long time no chat. I havent been on Metalmeet, been too busy on projects. You remember those roof sheets I needed for my Quonset roof? We discussed them on M.M. Anyway, I found that a 24'diameter metal grain silo panel will work perfect. Now I need to find 6 panels. Mine are 100" long X 24". Yourself being a farmer, would you know where any damaged/ un-used ones are? Heres my cell if ya wanna call, or Pm me here. Thanks. Al 989-494-9746
