Hey guys I have a 61 ford falcon with the stock 13" rims running p175/80r13 tires. My question is I'm going to be lowering it soon and thought the bigger wheels will fill up the wheel well and look nice and maybe add a little bit to the handling. I love the stock Ford center cap and was wondering will they fit on 14" rims? And in the future I'm going to get wide whites and wanted to know if the price is a huge hike up when having a larger rim? Your thought and wisdom are greatly appreciated. Thanks

Fourteens are better in almost every way, but the wheels might be a little hard to find. Not sure about the hubcaps. Maybe Wheelkid knows.

  3. What's up Solo. I used to have a '62 two door wagon. I had the stock 13" wheels with '63 Futura wire style hubcaps w/spinners. The tires were 155/80/13's with a 2" shaved white wall. I had wanted to go with 14's as well, but it was much lower with the 13's. I'm not sure if the dog dish caps will fit a 14" rim. Here's a couple of pics of my wagon.

A lot of the ******** lowrider boys around here still run 13's on their bigger cars. With that I don't see any problem with 13's.
I just sold a set of nos baby moons that would fit that car and shipped them off Thursday for someone with a Ranchero I belive.
Six cylinder 65/66 Mustangs had that bolt pattern and had 14 inch wheels.

I'll tell you it is getting harder to find 13" tires every year. I hate to mail order rubber, but had no choice this year. Not one single dealer I checked locally kept any in stock. Most of what they could get was hi tech radials, not any kind of sidewall or tread that we wanted on my wife's original condition Falcon.

yeah I might get those but I dont want to lose the caps.

American tire co has some 2 1/4 wide whites in 13'' they had to order them but they said they are $265 installed. I think they were dominators. Is it a big price jump if I go 14"?

i have a full set of 14s that will fit on a falcon. I mounted them up, then loaded the front with weight till it bottomed out, and i still had plenty of clearance.

I still havnt made the swap from 13s yet. The tires are just too nice on my 13s

You will need to find small cap 14 wheels
which have 3 mounting tabs for the hub caps to keep the stock caps

the large cap 14 wheels have 4 tabs for the caps
which will not accept the falcon caps

The price diffrence between 13 and 14inchers is almost nothing.
This said, i would stick w/ the 13s.
Lately i've seen a few 4 spoke cragars pop out and even a pair of tru-spokes w/
    the right falcon/mustang..... bolt pattern.
So i'd say stick w/ the 13s unless you find a 14inch wheel that you like
better than smoothies, cragars or wires, which are all available in 13".
    good luck w/ it.

For comparison, my '62 Comet is currently running 14" wheel up front and 13" in the rear. The tire sizes are such that both setups have the same overall height. The rear suspension is stock, and the front has been lowered by cutting 1 coil.

If you want to use your stock dog-dish caps with a 14" wheel you need to find '65 Mustang 14" 4-lug wheels. They are the only ones with the smaller hub area that fits the falcon/comet dog dish hubcaps.
