BTW .... Should mention that "price realized at sale" numbers include a 10% sales commission for RM Auctions.

You gotta remember that results of auctions occur due to many factors. Each one is separate and unique from all others. If you've got a vehicle up for sale (with no resrve) , and the appropriate buyers don't show - or don't bid - you lose.

About the only auction that I've thought "Man, I could have afforded ___________".
    Oh well.

Ya, some of that stuff was CHEAP. I guess the collector car market is pretty weak right now unless it's something that Elvis owned!?!?!? I would have loved to have one of those trikes.

The Torino funny....without knowing too many details, I'd have to say WOW!!

....and Jeff Gordon's crashed race car for 7,700(?), did that include the engine?

These two, for just a pile of parts, were worth it....I think.

Can't get the subsequent pages to load!

wow, many of those were half or less what they were expected to bring

Certain high profile ones went for what they were expected to, like the mazmanian vette and road agent etc..I could have almost afforded the Jack Stewart ford though!

It looks like they basically flooded the market with too much "product" in a down economy. I hate to say it, but they probably would have done better to release a few at a time a BJ auctions.

Man, now I wish I would have went. There were two or three cars that I could have afforded and probably would have bid on. Prices on some of them were very low. I would have liked to have the 1958 "little Nailhead" Dragster for $9900.-

I am in the same boat. I saw that last night and gasped. My wife asked me why and I told her. Her reply. "I told you you should have flown out for the weekend and went." I told her I woulda been in big trouble when I came home with a new prize. :) Of course, if we were all there bidding on it like we wished, it would have sold for much higher.....

Very interesting, thanks for posting this, funny how auctions go, seems like quite a few of us could actually have afforded some of these cars, which is real surprising. Too bad the museum didn't work out, but we all have projects like that in our cellars, and family indeed comes first.

I was at BJ when the Chevelle vert went for over a million bucks and I thought it was quite a crazy price. I see that it sold for 1/4 that much this time around.

That's what happens with "no reserve" auctions.

  24. No motor in Gordon's wreck. Just a pile of garbage.

  25. If that cheap **** Groucho would've bought a bidder's p***, he'd be doing Funny Car burnouts in front of Leno's shop 2 blocks away on Clybourn right now.:D

Half a million for the Little Red Wagon. That is a chunk o change. Could you imagine spending even 1/10 of that on one vehicle all at one time? Spread out, over a few years maybe. I mean, yeah that is a cool, historic vehicle, but $550,000? Probably gonna sit in somebody's private collection. Hopefully not, and it will be used as it was intended.

Actually, over the last 10 years pure "no reserve" auctions have generated ridiculous returns. Of course, it was only a matter of time before someone got caught in the down turn. However, I looked over the results and other than the trykes, was that much really given away?

  29. Actually, it was only "given away" in relativaty of what the seller paid. He paid a reported $900K for the Mazmanian Vette ( R ya just that ****ing rich that ya just don't care?). But, it sold for $240K. I think 240 reflects what it may be worth, and 900K reflects someone that just has too much ****ing money to spend on something he knows NOTHING about. He had either BAD, or NO advice in buying these cars. I was FLOORED when a blue Deuce roadster went for $190K......until I found out the seller paid THREE HUNDRED K for it. Did ya bump your head man? Because if ya did, I'm gonna bump mine too:D

and if you had $26+K you certainly could of but in my opinion it was not worth that. It really wasn't even worth 1/2 that. Trust me if it was I would have been bidding on it for my Dad.

I'll call your bluff on that cuz Megan was standing right next to you for much of the day and could have easily bid on something for you and you could have then just paid for it.

Everyone's big talk after the fact, come to the table prepared or don't come at all. Tons of folks got "great deals" cuz they came to the table prepared to take care of business if the situation warrented it. Others talk about "if only I knew, blah, blah, blah"". It's not rocket science folks, it's a no reserve auction, if your interested in the possiblity of purchasing something you show up prepared. If not you can't whine about it later.
