Hi There,
I know that there are a few threads out with this info but a lot of the pictures are not showing up any more So I'd like to revisit this again.
I am about to start the Chop on my 1950 Shoebox Sedan and I'd like to get some pictures of 1949, 1950, 1951 Ford Shoebox cars with chopped tops and the amount of the chop. The more pictures the better and any recommendations or websites from anyone has that has already done this would be great.
I'm thinking that I want to do a 4"/5" or a 5"/6" but I don't know.

Thanks for all the help.
Tom

I too am in the process of chopping my '50 sedan. Do a search here on it. Lots of good info and pics. Also check out www.ruffrodders.com Again, tons of info with pics. My plans are 5" straight across. Extreme Kustoms by Erickson did one lately at 5" front and back and I thought it looked quite good. Check out the site for pics. www.ericksonskustoms.com Also check out www.shoeboxford.com Good luck. Post pics when you start.

Here's a few quick ones of my 49'. I studied chops for months before I started. I don't want to toot my own horn but I think my proportions are pretty good.

The area most frequently screwed up is the c pillar and back gl***. The transition from the top of the roof into the back window can make or break a chop.

Let me know if you have any questions, I'd be glad to help!

Here's thread from my chop.

Mine was chopped 5" in the front and about 7" in the rear. For me I was intending on doing 5" all around, but you'll find out that you can't take out an even 5" and make it look right.
For me when I took out 5" in the rear it was too high and made the roof look like it was leaning forward.
I wanted my door windows to be even. I can't say for sure how many inches were taken out of the rear, since I kept cutting until it looked right. I think an important part of doing anything is to do a little bit, and step back and look at it from every angle. If you're not %100 then fix it, because it will always haunt you down the road.
My projext is still not finished. I do a little each year and so far it's worked out because my tastes have changes as far as body color, trim, and interior.

Here's my chopped box, I did a 5 and 8 inch chop, That gave me a nice looking slope. I kept my rear window 2 inches above the belt line. I have more pictures on my profile. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />
Unfortunately I lost all of my pictures during the chop. I lost them on my computer and was never able to retrieve them.
