Speedway 1/4 midget Mfg Co

    I bought this 1/4 midget from a friend of mine, looking for a little history lesson on them. Thanks. (He put the Speedway Motors lettering on, he's a friend of Bobs)

    The motors they ran in them were DECO Detroit Engine Company, originally use a pony motors to start tanks during WWW. They were somewhere around 5hp when stock. There were 4 race classes which allowed more motor modifications. Stock, Modified, B and A classes. The B and A classes burned alcohol. In later years they started using Honda 5hp motors for the lower classes due to the lack of parts for the DECO's. Some of the B and A motors could run as high $1000. and I have seen cars sell for over $5000.
