I like it! I fully restored my 59 to original and I have been seeing so many nicely done customs that I may just have to tear into that brand new paint job.

i don't like ford much, but you go girl!

  9. Its chopped 2,5" in back and as u can see the windshield is untoutched. The little cap over the windshield has been shortened and the roof has come down 2,5 in front and den modifyed to fit the windshield in a new possition. The rear window is leaned forward about 6" on the upper side.

Hope u understand my poor english?

Just right, very cool. Now for a big mofo Lincoln engine.........

  12. Just a simple 352 im affraid!!

  13. My .02......that's about the best squarebird chop proportion-wise I've ever seen. Such a major change that's so subtle it almost is overlooked.
I grew up in a 59 ( my Mom's) and I remember what they looked like, and how boxy the stock roof is....almost like a removeable hardtop.
    Looks GREAT.

  14. earl schieb!

Have to agree with u about the best chop proportion-wise ever! I think Fredrik will be glad about your comments. Its the 1:st Topchop ever he has done on this car.

    Love the look of it!

I like the proportion of the top also...but the top of the windshield looks strange to me...if you could've kept the little visor like the stock version...but I understand that probably means a ****load of extra work.

A lot of chop jobs don't really improve the overall look of the car, just make it look different. Sometimes for the good, often not IMO. Yours is the way the factory should have done it. A "gentelmans" chop for sure.

That looks real fine. I really like the chop. My first car was a $75.00 58 'bird in '66. I should have kept that one!

Wow - thats so subtle it´s actually hard to notice until you see a stocker. Looks way better now! The roof on these is pretty clunky as original.

Flawless really. is it done by the same guy that did the 59 or 60 blue cad few months/years ago? I think it was you that posted the thread about it....
    real good job anyway.

  25. Nope! Its made by a friend that never ever chopped a roof before. He pro touring before and buildt a 69 Firebird from scratch and then he also built from scratch a dragracing car of a 1971 Opel manta with a 410 cui blown smallblock on metanol!

Wow, i thought you meant he never chopped that kind of roof before, not never chopped one at all!

I like it! I've got a '59, converted to a convert, with the top irons from a '64 'vert converted to a lift off. The original top I also converted to be removable, and like your friends, it's minus the "eyebrow" over the windshield. I've NEVER had the steel top back on, due to the clunky lines of the rear of the top. Like your friends, it's "chopped" a little over 2" in front, and mines about 3" lower in back, which makes the top look even worse. Leaning the rear window forward looks GREAT, I'm going to "borrow" that idea for mine, and forget cutting the windshield, which I was going to do!

  30. Glad my pics could help you re-think your plans. Keep up the work and show us the pics when finished?
