I have it from reliable sopurces that it will be a two-day event next year (really 3-day if you show up for their regular Friday nite street drags). This years event was just to test the waters to see if enough interest was there - and we all know it is. Did anyone get pics of my inline six-powered altered and RPU?
Cooljunk put a link to the track photog****rs site on the other thread. Here it is... http://motorcitynationals.com/v-web/gallery/v/092609/?g2_page=1 There was a surprizing number of great cars for a first time event. They have a lot of room for more show and race cars so it'll probably just get bigger and better next year.
Great pics! Thanks for posting. Wish I would have gone. Love that Tempest. I remember seeing a couple of those run at Ark City back in the 90's. I always liked those cars.
Sorry,no on my part;other than the same guy owns(or at least I got the impression that he owned) both it and the Merc next to it. He drove the Merc in;I p***ed him on the way there,as he was retrieving items that came out of his trunk when the lid popped open. I got off at the following exit, went back to see about helping, but he had moved on. Talked to him at the show to see if all was OK,and he was working on the coupe like he owned it(again, presumption on my part). Asked if he was a HAMBer and he replied "No." Nice rides-how can you NOT like a Hemi-powered coupe?-that would fit in well here.
Rick, I think you would like this event better also, its 1/4 mile and should be better with cl***es next year. Jon
Here's a few more... Here's a nice four door Olds that was racing. James Boys again... Random pit shot... This Pickup was nice but as I walked closer I noticed it had a 348 Tri Power engine. He also carried on the theme by using the 61 Impala steering wheel and a factory Sun tach from the early 60's.
Thanks for the Pics. Event was great !!! Many thanks to the staff at Milan Dragway for a well run event. Was told...next year promises to be bigger and better....I can't wait !!!!!!
thanks for posting up the pics! I was watching it on the net,I wanted to go, but the money thing. weather did not look so great either.
Anybody know the date for this year's nostalgia drags at Milan. Marking all the dates on a calendar for the shows I'm gonna make and definetly am going to make it this year.
Milan just released their 2010 schedule. The Nostalgia Drags are on Saturday September 25th. Unfortunately they did not make it a two-day race as promised. Too bad. I am going to try to finish The Last Logghe altered for this race.
I seen that also, they said they were going to do that as a weekend event. It is to bad they did not do it as a weekend event, maybe if its even better this year they will consider it. Jon
The track has new ownership. They will keep the highly successful Nostalgia Drags. https://studio.youtube.com/video/lG6tOzJHOdw/edit
