well i dont have to worry bout a gunk infested fuel tank it aint got one lol but i no the clean new advice wat i think i need to get it running is a water pump and fuel pump do away with the points and a electric fuel pump and do as u said and sum mystery oil in the cylinders just to get the engine running and radiator and sum hoses
Go out to the truck with a tool box full of tools and just stare at it for about a good hour. Crawl in it under etc. Come up with a game plan. I think you're on the right track, but you don't have a game plan. Going about this ****terbrained (i've been there done that) won't get you far, and will just get a lot of stuff dis***embled and not put back together. Start with the basics. 1. The engine turns over, that's good. 2. Where's the fuel going to come from... figure that out. 3. Pull a spark plug and ground it to the cylinder head, does it spark when you hit the ignition? If not, figure out why and get it to spark. 4. Start tuning the thing and seeing what else needs to be replaced before you run the truck too long. If it looks nasty or broken, don't take a chance, repair/replace the part. Come up with a game plan. If that old stocker has good compression and you still can't make it run... don't even think about doing a ch***is swap or anything complicated right now. Learn the basics on that old motor. That truck will teach you TONS.
