I need to fix some cutouts the previous owner made for the current steering. I havent made it down to the frame just yet to take measurements myself, but here are a few pics of current. He did fortunately re-enforce with a piece of pipe, but I want to clean it up for the MII thats going in. Just trying to get the thickness so I can have the material on hand for when I get some time to work on it... seems we never have enough time to knock out nice chunks at a time.

    Thanks,
    Spaz

I would suggest 3/16 It is around the same thickness as a stock frame.

The frame is probably a bit less than 1/8" thick, there wasn't much to them...the box shape gave them their strength.

I'd do some measuring first. might get better welds and a nicer job if you match the thickness better than you would by using 3/16"

what kind of steering is that and how well did it work?

as for frame thickness look at the end of the frame where your bumper goes and measure it

The steering setup was out of a 57 chevy. It worked alright- just needed to be aligned. Just not sufficient if I switch over to bags though. I have to raise the motor as the previous owner mounted it so low I would have to take the lower pulley off to put on a belt... Just alot was done that looks to work for a little while but would give problems eventually. So I am pulling it all out and doing it right.
