Need some help here. Need to build a bellhousing to fit a Ford BW T18 or T19 trans. All I can find in my local bone yard are New Process 4 sp. Anyone know if the bolt pattern, regester dia and input shaft lenght interchange? Thanks, John

What enigne are you hooking to the T18??

I believe the T18 and New Process 435 are both heavy duty 4 spd truck transmissions. They should have the same bellhousing bolt pattern.

Lakewood makes bellhousings that are drilled for both 3 spd and 4 spd transmissions. I have one for a windsor block. I think they also make them for the 385 series big blocks.

If you still aren't having any luck, search some off road 4X4 forums. Those guys love the T18's and NP435's for the granny 1st gear.

Thanks, It is going to a Ford Duratec I4.

  4. I've seen many NP435 and B/W T18 & 19 trannys built over the years. the best I remember, the bellhousing face pattern is the same. I think they even used the same transmission output yoke. Same yoke as some fixed yoke three speeds.
On the parts counter side of NP vs BW, I'd rather look up parts for the NP because the BW trannies were also used in forklifts and other off highway applications, which makes more MANY internal variables on what is just as simple as the NP. I've mistakenly ordered wrong parts for BW stuff because of almost enough info in my reference catalogs. Drives me up the wall.
    What's a Duratec I4?

I think you are going to have a really tough time finding a bellhousing to mate an I4 to a BW T-18. Since it was a haevy duty Truck trans, It only came behind V8's and the occasional 300 I6. You will probably need an adaptor.
