I purchased this panel a couple of years ago at a G.G. swap meet. The guy had about 10 NOS panels, the seller had no idea of their origin. The second photo is of a '32 roadster dash build at Dave Lanes shop, using the same panels.
Ive installed some aftermarket ones that look just like the ones pictured. I cant remember the company tho.
Yeah its a GM panel, I think they were in big trucks too. Sometimes theres a black krinkle finish instead of the gray. Theres often a little "GM" in the little square. Pretty cool panel and pretty uncommon. John
I asked some big truck guys about this panel and they were't sure which GM truck it may have come from. I would really like to find one for my T project if anyone has one for sale Tom
looks like everybody is using them upside down.i guess they look more like the auburn panel ,that way.
They also had a "Hollywood" version panel as well, with two extra smaller holes for gauges or accessories...
I posted this question over on the ATHS (American Truck Historical Site) and someone responded that it reminded them of some pics they saw in a Detroit Diesel Series 53 service manual. Here are the two pics they posted... Maybe the last pic is the "Hollywood" version 36C8 was referring too... Tom
I'm with you. I found one that was in an old warehouse and it had a GM insignia on the tab. If it was mounted with the tab on the bottom the GM would be upside down.
Yes, but the ones I've seen were drilled with two 3-3/8" holes and eight 2-1/8" holes, but with that exact panel.
