Was going thru some of my "old suff" and came across this shirt. read about this place for years in Hemmings mag. Was my dream to drive down there and see the place so I did. When I got there place was pretty well picked over of old cars . Came home with t-shirt and a few old street signs. Anybody else have a favorite t-shirt?
That's toward the end of Medicine Bow Motors when Charlie Gerke owned it. The art work on the "T" is by Jack Bishop. Medicine Bow Motors in that spot, is long gone and Charlie lives in Hamilton, MT and still uses the name for his shop. How about this pic from 1994. Hosted on Fotki
There is a specialty hardwood shop in there now. There was a lot of controversy when the original owner had it. He was acussed more than once of advertising rust free Montana cars, sending pics of such cars, then after getting paid he would ship another rusted out piece of ****. Then do it all over again. Charlie was a much more honest guy, and a nice guy to deal with.
Medicine Bow Motors in Missoula MT. Big doin's there in a bad way back in the 70s-80s. Many stories in Old Cars Weekly about the investigations, etc.
There's still a stash of stuff from there Way back up the side of a mountain. Toymont and I went up there a couple years ago and posted pictures to the HAMB. We never had so many PM's wanting to know if they could buy something they saw in the photos! Yeah , the original guy was named Croker, if I remember correctly. He spent some time in the big house for fraud.
Bought a '32 sedan from them in the 80's. They hid alot of stuff and I had a hard time having them deliver it. After alot of phone calls to the ***hole at 3 AM in the morning his brother delivered it.
I purchased "rust free" fenders and running boards from them for my '37 sedan in '77. When they arrived they might have been mostly rust free but weren't as the person described, they were all bent and patched. Screwed. Same thing happened to a friend getting parts for his '31 Pontiac. We didn't know we had both done the same thing 'til years later, it's nothing you want to brag about!
I remember going over to the original location east of Missoula when Croker ran it, saw akot of nice complete cars with chunks cut out of them because someone needed a pillar or other section. You can see some of this in the photo of the yard
